EAST OF THE MISSISSIPPI, YOU COUNT BOTH SIDES.
WEST OF THE MISSISSIPPI, you count 1 SIDE.

  Southern folks down here. Been here all my life. We have always counted both sides. If you can hang a ring on it, it's a point.

  AAaaat's right. East. BOTH
  WEST ONLY 1 SIDE.But i think they need an inch out there,to make a "point"..

  I'm west, count both sides, 1" or longer.

  does anyone have any history on this, or why the count is done difrently in the west vs the east????
