OR should the GOVERNMENT profit from war?

Monetarily, I mean. Does it? Can it? Should it? At WHOSE expense?

Another poster questioned whether BUSINESSES should profit from war. I just wanted to further the discussion without hijacking that thread.

    How does a victorious guberment not profit from a war?

    How should bidnesses not profit from a consumer, even if the consumer is a guberment at war, and yet stay is bizness?

    By rebuilding every country we destroy and not taking advantage of their natural resources.

    With all the fuel and equipment that it burns up, and with all the coming and going, and with all the busywork of getting stuff out of bunkers and getting it on board a plane or ship, I cannot imagine any scenario in which the Gubmint makes ANY money on the deal.

    For example in WWII, we Lent/Leased a TON of ships to all our allies, and never asked for them back, along with what we lost.

    The REAL profit in the war for the government..the steady erosion of privacy..the ever increasing slimy fingers of those in power poking about in your life.

    The rub to this argument is that it is OUR money they are spending, not their own. Our government is infested with politicians in high places with conflicts of interest regarding their investment and involvement with industries who profit from war.
