Is It Real?
So the NatGeo channel is running a marathon of Is It Real? That show that investigates paranormal and unexplained happenings in the world.
So here's my question: How many of you have experienced something that can't be explained or rationalized away? A UFO sighting, a bigfoot spotting, a ghostly encounter, a psychic episode, anything that would qualify as paranormal or an X-File.
Let's not turn this into a debate over perception or belief or I'm right and you're wrong, or anything else. Let's just share first hand encounters with the weird and unknown.
GO!!!!!!!!!

The county where I live in Washington State, is the only county in the entire country that has an ordinance against shooting Big Foot. Yes, I've seen my share of strange things.
For what it's worth.

i have experienced several of the unexplainable 0 -
I have definitely observed objects in the sky that I could not identify.
We had a "ghost" at one house we lived in. A boy in yellow pajamas that was always seen heading for the kitchen in the night.0 -
I grew up in a farm house that was built in the early 1700s. There had been Indian raids around there and many people were killed. There is an old graveyard close by where most of the tombstones have the same dates on them, from a raid. Well, sometimes I would hear dozens of voices and see dozens of faces swirling around at night. I NEVER told anyone, thought I was going nuts. When I grew up and moved away, I never heard or saw anything like that ever again. About 10 years later, I was visiting my older sister for a Halloween party. She said something about ghosts and I must have made a funny face, because she got white faced and said "You heard the voices and saw the faces too didn't you?" We sat and talked about it, she had never told anyone either, for fear they would think she was crazy. 0 -
I am alive today because of "unexplained" events. I consider it a spiritual matter. I've shared it with some a few friends and family. Things can and do happen that are not rational. 0 -
Yes, once, buy every time I talk about it I get such a negative reaction that I don't bring it up any longer. 0 -
When I was in high school and living in the Midwest, the coach took five of the football players and started to a town about twenty-five miles away that we had a game with. It was about twilight. He had to jam on the brakes to keep from hitting a figure that the guys described as "lumbering" across the road. They first thought it was a bear, except it walked upright. Shaggy hair and big. The coach stopped down the road and asked them all what they had seen. All agreed on the description. I did not see this personally, but two of the players were good friends of mine and told the same story. Further I Knoweth Not. 0 -
Dang! And I thought this was a thread about breast enhancement![:p] 0 -
Odd you should ask. I have not personally experienced such -- aside from the fact that my life is a string of miracles and answered prayer. But my niece recently experienced something.
She works as a CNA in a nursing home, and was particularly friendly with one elderly lady. She was pretty crushed when Millie died peacefully in her sleep. A day or two later, while cleaning Millie's room, she looked up at the window -- and there was Millie, waving. As if to say she was okay. Clear as day, then gone.0 -
once while camping by rock lake by tom's place in the sierra nevada mountains i saw a large slow moving aircraft with no lights on it at all
it was large and triangular, made no noise, and was only barely visible against the night sky, because it was just a few shades lighter.
i believe it was possibly the "mythical" top secret Aurora

Nope, it is Memorex.0 -
(At least) three sightings of unidentifiable (by me) flying objects. Two incidents where I tracked bogeys on radar that performed maneuvers outside the envelope of normal flying things.
Pretty regular "mind reading" between my Brother and me.
Twice have seen the ghost of my Brother.

i saw the famous il ufo in 2000, it was daylight i saw a blue light go from right to left and back again covering as far as i could see sky, a jetliner would take several minutes to cover the same area it did in a fraction of a second, i personally believe it was a laser light 0 -
Sure. My Mom was claivoyant, so "weird stuff" was pretty normal for me growing up. Unfortunately, I didn't get "the gift" the way she had it.
I've told this story more times than I can count....
When Mike and I first started up as "a couple," he was working one afternoon, and I was busy spring cleaning the house we now live in. This house was built by the architect son of a Civil War vet. Anyhow, I was cleaning the big window in the front of the living room, very much alone, kids were with their dad, when I got the feeling I was being watched. I turned around, and standing before me was an elderly gentleman om a grey suit with a grey beard. I immediately turned around, ("Did I just see what I thought I saw?"), and then slowly turned back, he was gone.
Mike came home from work, and I told what had happened. He says, "Sit down, baby.." and proceeds to tell me that what I saw was the ghost of the father of the guy who built the house, came back from the war "not quite right", but the son didn't want to commit him to an assylum, so he lived here til he died, and that he knows of at least 2 other former residents who have seen him.
I haven't seen him since, but my son has, said some old guy told him he lives in the attic.0 -

You have my deepest sympathy (do you realize how lucky you are?).
On the other hand, haven't most of us experienced Deja Vu'? And haven't most of us experienced waking dreams where we tried to move to answer some urgent need, and found we couldn't move an arm, or a leg? only later to realize we were asleep?
And how many times have you anticipated the exact words someone else would very soon speak?
My Dad was unhappy to find he would often dream about a friend's or neighbor's death, only to find it actually occur within the next 24 hours or so.
And at sites of Revolutionary or Civil War battles, or other tragedies, haven't you more or less 'felt', or sensed, an aura coming from that time, or that event?
Two points....1) I believe we use only a very small portion of our brain, and there are senses or abilities that pertain to the power of the soul that sometimes just pop to the surface. They seem powerful, sometimes knowing the unknowable, but almost always surprising us and anyone who observes it in us.
And 2) According to scripture, the dead do not communicate with the living, or even with each other, nor do they communicate with God. And upon death ALL spirits return to God (I know about the witch of Endor, and of Paul's visit to paradise, but these are exceptions, requiring a specific and purpose directed dispensation from God). So I believe the 'spirits' (or ghosts) of the departed, seemingly inhabiting people, animals, places, or things are in fact, spiritual powers and beings that are there and that are counterfeiting those 'emanations', ghosts or spirits that we claim, indeed that we believe, we are seeing or sensing.
I recall renting a two story apartment one time, in which lamps would unaccountably fall to the floor, pictures would jump from the wall, strange noises would sound forth, even the sounds of people walking up the steps, people who weren't there when the light was turned on.
A quick call to some spiritually mature brethren, a little prayerful demon 'casting out', and all was clear thereafter.
So yes, it's real, and no, it isn't real....
