concealed carry
Just reading between the lines over a long period of time some people think they don't have to go through the NIC's check if they have a concealed carry permit. Am I missing something here?

Looking to buy a concealed carry pistol in 9 or 40 I have a G23 RTF not the most comfortable with the RTF. Any suggestions in the same size or something a little smaller. 0 -
I have a question, and maybe I'm just nuts. I know this may seem odd, but when I carry an autoloader I feel a little nervous carrying with a round in the chamber if it doesn't have a manual safety. A revolver doesn't phase me, and for some reason neither does my Ruger P89DC as once I chamber a round I can de-cock it, and I'm fine.
Here's the question: Is there any rational reason for me to feel that way? I have a Kel-Tec P3AT,a Glock 22 and a baby Browning 25 acp (manual safety, but boy it moves easy....) and I'm just uncomfortable chambering unless I'm practicing. I know, I know, defeats the purpose of self-defense as if you actually need it, having to chamber a round is a recipe for disaster.
Common sense tells me the striker fired Kel-Tec won't accidentally go off, as the trigger pull is pretty stiff. Haven't fired the Browning since my dad gave it to me, so not too sure there, and the Glock shouldn't be an issue either.
Maybe I should just stick to the airweight in warmer weather, and the Smith .357 or the Ruger in colder weather.......0 -
How many people with thier ccw permits actually strap on and carry their gun day in and day out ? I have a ritual where I put in on every morning when i dress and take it off every night and lay it on the night stand by my bed.I have made this a habit for 15 years now.Reason I ask is alot of my friends have the permit and may wear from time to time or they may carry in their vechile if they think about it.To me it kind of defeats the purpose of staying prepared al all times. 0 -

Was reading an article in a recent gun rag regarding handgun holsters. In talking about concealed carry and the benefits of using some type of holster versus simply sticking the gun in a pocket, one paragraph really stuck out -
"Naturally, you can just stick a small handgun in your pocket unsheathed, but this is not without drawbacks. Lint and pocket crud can work its way into the action. And we remember one horror story from an instructor at the Smith and Wesson Academy concerning a plainclothesman who habitually packed a J-frame 2-inch wheelgun that way. I want to introduce legislation , that if you qualify to buy a gun, with the Background check in place, that you automatically qualify to carry it.. That way, there would only be one Gun Owners list that you would be on. [:D]
I mean, if you can pass muster to buy one, then why pass a second muster to carry it?? DUHHHHHHHHHHH0 -

Read on another forum Senate bill 1390, if passed will allow you to carry in any state that allows Concealed Carry now. Will not need to get a permit from that state just have one from your home state.
Now don't blast me, but has anybody else heard this. If so can you provide the text of the Bill that supports this. I did look the bill up, But could have missed that section. But do not think so. Could it be added and I missed the addition. That could be.0 -

I have my permit. In Mass. its concealed carry only. I would like some advice on the type of holster I should buy. I want it to be comfortable and very easy to keep concealed. I'm sorry I should have mentioned the only pistol I have is a 9mm browning hi power, but I'd rather carry something smaller and I want the smallest chance that my gun will accidently flash someone.
Any advice on what I should buy Type of holster and if I should look at a new gun? PS (There are a million threads on best pistols for the job so that is not what I'm asking)

I am a resident of Tennessee and I am overseas. When I get home I do intend to get my concealed carry permit. I would like to know from maybe some of you guys that are or were in the military, what is the deal with concealed carry at your duty station, it seems like it would be a hell no completely. Also would a permit obtained in TN work in NC if I am stationed there. Thanks for the help. 0 -

I had a doctors appointment at the local VA clinic yesterday and found out something very interesting that I would like to pass along. While going through triage before seeing the doctor, I was asked at the end of the exam, three questions:
1. Did I feel stressed?
2. Did I feel threatened?
3. Did I feel like doing harm to someone?
The nurse then informed me, that if I had answered yes to any of the questions, I would have lost my concealed carry permit as it would have gone into my medical records and the VA would have reported it to Homeland Security. Looks like they are going after the vets first.
Other gun people like retired law enforcement will probably be next. Then when they go after the civilians, what argument will they have? Be forewarned and be aware.
The Obama administration has gone on record as considering veterans and gun owners potential terrorists. Whether you are a gun owner veteran or not, you've been warned.

Im watching some show on spike, jewelry store owner gets shot by bad guy. The jewelry store owner was robbed and maced years earlier so he now carries. BG walks in, looks at some jewelry, then turn, pulls his revolver, the jewelry store owner actually beat the BG to the draw, but his safety was on!!!! This has lead me to believe the only way to carry is with a revolver, or auto, locked cocked and ready to rock. How do you guys who carry autos carry. Im going to be applying for my CCW in a little while. Just wondering how you guys handle it. 0 -
First off i love this forum. i dont post on here much but i am on here all the time seeing what others have posted. ok now the question at hand. Is the a time frame from when you complete the concealed carry course and when you can actually get your permit. the reason i ask is because I completed the course alittle over 2 years ago and with the divorce and everything i finally found the papers and now im ready to get it. if it helps im from kansas. yeah, I miss it too. I usually go straight to the state legislature websites now. Takes a lot longer.
Oh yeah, and if the XD is your carry weapon, my signature line does not apply to you (meaning I do approve of it).
