If she felt safe, she felt safe - it's an opinion based upon some very faulty logic, but still an opinion.

Whether or not she actually was safe is another matter entirely.[;)]

It comforts many people to mistakenly believe that if we only remove the "tools" used by violent, evil people then those people will no longer want to or be able to hurt us.

I visited England some years ago, and noticed right away that the Bobbies were unarmed. I was there for a demonstration against Mr. Reagan's intended implacement of Cruise missles in the UK. 250,000 showed up in Trafalgar Square to let him know they were not amused, and demonstrators dropped out of line to help Bobbies move barracades. Civilized, polite

We passed through the barracades headed for the Tate Gallery and in a small side street off the Square, I saw a personell carrier with a dozen armoured and armed police waiting, just in case. Again I thought, civilized, out of sight not inciting anamosity.

It also struck me, when only the police have guns it is called a police state, no matter how polite it seems.

Now THERE's some critical thinking for ya! I hadn't looked at it from that angle.

I bet she wouldn't have felt so safe during the weeks of rioting by "disaffected Moooslim Youts".

I always give youngsters the classic:

"A fear of weapons is a sign of retarded sexual and emotional maturity."

Sigmund Freud in "General Introduction to Psychoanalysis"

Nuthin' like hittin' 'em where they live!

I felt perfectly safe during about 97% of the time I spent in Iraq 2 years ago. Everybody around me was carrying at least one weapon. I had an M-16A4 and an M-9, plus almost 300 rds of ammo at all times.
