A number of American elementary schools decided not teach about 9/11 on its sixth anniversary because, in the words of one Utah administrator, the schools didn't want the children to "dwell on violence."

No wonder America is in the state it is in.
As most of you know I am a fireman on a big city Department. As I traveled the neighborhoods of my STILL district yesterday, I had tears in my eyes and anger in my heart. Very few homes were flying American flags on the day of the anniversary of the greatest terrorist attack to ever take place on American soil. Probably because of the teaching of crap like the above "Zero Tolerance Rule".
GRD, you asked where we were 6 years ago yesterday? Well I remember, I was working my shift as an officer when the calls started coming in and our Department went into lock down, complete with the barricading of Village Hall. Our crew watched live TV as 343 of our brothers died trying to save the World Trade Center and all those inside. I remember worrying about my wife at work and my son at school. Could they and would they be allowed to return home.
Being a fireman would not allow me the privilege of helping out at home should problems arise, my loyalty to my calling and the people who look to us in time of need are our priorities. None the less my thoughts were at home and of the men and women of our department who I lead.
Several of my friends at work have sons and daughters in the military and I have a nephew who was deployed after 9/11. As I know many of you do also.
As I read and enjoy the comments on GB on a regular basis I feel ties to every one of you are are LEOs, Paramedics, Firefighters, are retired or still serve in every branch of the Military.
Do we, as parents, really know what the liberal leaders of some of our nations school systems are teaching our children? This is our history, it has not always been pretty, alot of mistakes have been made. But it is ours. Bad things don't go away just because we hide them under a rug.
Talk to your kids or even your neighbors, I bet some know more about the hometown football team or which celebrity is sleeping with who this week than all the events that lead up to yesterday.
Zero Tolerence in Schools, just another way for the weak, lame and politically correct to destroy America from the inside.
As for me, I fly a flag year round, but yesterday, I took it down and replaced it with a flag that is tattered, has seen many long winters, raging rain storms, and blistering heat. It's been flown through tornados and calm. Ms. likemhot asked me why the old tattered flag flew yesterday and I told her that was the flag I raised for 9/11. Now I call it my battle flag, not pretty, but my reminder of the day terrorists tried to take my freedoms away. The new flag will fly today, but OLD GLORY, my battle flag, is folded and put away till next year, I pray it doesn't have to wave to much longer.

I must admit that I wasn't aware we were supposed to fly the Flag for 9/11. Won't forget next year.
I absolutly agree about the schools being messed up.
Last year my daughter invited me to a play being put on by her HS Drama Dept. A play "supposedly" written by the students.
In the play, the student roles where of being world nations having a discussion of world problems. ( each student portrayed a nation). The United States was depicted as a dunce wearing a dunce cap.
I declined to attend the play and explained to my daughter how disappointed I was that she not only was taking part in it, but evidently agreed w/the message.
I'm happy to report that she elected to drop out of the production.0 -

my wife(teacher) went to work yesterday, walked right into the admin's office. told them that they should have a school wide pledge of allegiance. they said we are flying the flag at half staff and are going to have a moment of silence. well the flag was a good start but they never had the moment of silence, nor did they say the pledge. the wife was a wee bit upset[:(!].
I was the only one on the entire street to fly a flag yesterday. tears come to my eyes everytime I fly the flag. When i worked iron and i could comondeer the crane I'd fly the flag as high as i could get it sometimes that was a 145ft. (half mast wasn't possible when on the crane) and if i didn't have a crane i would climb to the highest thing around and pin it up.0 -

there was an article in my local news paper that said it was the district policy in the school district here that teachers were NOT ALLOWED to discuss 9-11 because it might inflame or offend some students.
i didnt know there were so many al-qaeda students in our district !!0
