The wife just stabbed herself...UPDATE
We have some Cold Steel Knives in stock and the wife was checking one of them out this morning. This one is called a Roach Belly and I had told her that it would make a good skinning knife. I found out today that she did not believe me until she stabbed herself with it. She accidently dropped the knife and made the mistake of trying to catch it against her body. The knife sliced through her jeans and went exactly 2" into her stomach. From the looks of the wound channel, it appears as if the blade sliced shallow and went under the skin at an angle...it does not look like it went very deep, but it is clear from the blood and smudge mark on the blade that it did go in a full 2". I took her over to see a paramedic in town and he advised that she be seen at the emergency room...he did not think the blade went straight in either and said that it's probably nothing to worry about...but she should be checked out anyway. She's at the emergency room now. I think she knows better than to try to catch a knife now. These Cold Steel Knives are RAZOR sharp...
UPDATE: She's fine. The knife went in as we expected. It sliced in at a flat angle and did not penetrate deeply into the abdominal cavity. The doc almost stitched it and finally decided against it...should heal up fine. If that had gone straight in instead of at a flat angle, we'd be looking at a life threatening situation.
If find it ironic that the knife is called a Roach Belly.

hope she's alright..and glad for you both it was a glancing cut if you will..any update?....Loko 0 -
Catching a knife with your stomach, that is like blocking a punch with your nose.
Seriously, I hope she is ok. If it went in at an angle it didn't hit the intestines, so she should be ok.0 -
ive had close calls on the toes/feet but have tried to catch it.
a bullet did however one time roll off a table and land point down on the joint of my big toe. drew blood hurt for an hour or so.
hope she doesnt need the needle and thread0 -
Ouch. You need to stay off of her for a few days.[:D] 0 -
Prayers sent for here safety and that she is okay. LEt us know how she is. However I am in for the "used" cold steel knife giveaway[}:)] 0 -
I'm sorry to hear about this, and I sincerely hope that she's ok. On a positive note... At least when you and your guy friends are all sitting around drinking beer and showing off your scars (as men love to do), she'll be able to chime in with her story. [:D] 0 -

painful lesson, glad it is not too serious, if still painful. Be glad you don't stock any Bowies! You are going to kiss it well right? 0 -
Is your new nick-name for her going to be "Roach"?
That might take some explaining to family and friends.
Best wishes on the mend - and be careful with them Cold Steel products!0 -
The point of this all is..soft, seductive flesh and Cold Steel should never mix...
Sure glad we can make jokes about this, ECC...not too serious.0 -

Glad to hear she's OK. Did she damage the knife? [:D] 0 -
So how much bail do we have to raise for ECC on his wife's stabbing. I hear DV charges can be bad, you lose your guns. 0 -

Glad she's ok. I've had some interesting happenings with knives. My wife finally told me that I was dangersous (to myself) with sharp objects. 0 -

Glad she's okay, Eric. 0 -
I learned that lesson a couple of years ago. Standing at the back of my pickup, I dropped my knife. I went to catch it and it landed on the bumper standing straight up. It went in the palm of my hand, deep.
Glad to here the wife is ok.0 -
