Do you stop to pick up a penny?
If you see a penny on the ground, sidewalk, floor, etc., do you stop and pick it up?

Ok, guess I am the only guy here so far that won't pick it up... [xx(] 0 -

Yep and soon I'll show you why. 0 -
I do. I have a penny jar that the kids will periodically empty and roll so they can go to the store. 0 -
I do... so does my 70 year old dad... funny thing is my 13 year old step son doesn't... must be beneath him to do so. I have a feeling he won't be half as well off as I am when he's my age due to his lack of ambition/smarts... and I see a lot of that with this new generation of youth here in the US. 0 -
Yes they all spend the same.. 0 -
Heck, I pick up paperclips. 0 -
1981 and older pennies are backed by copper value and I save everyone I get. In the past I've been known to use a metal detector to find change. Now days I just drop Hillery zero dollar bills in liberal neighborhoods (much more fun than glueing pennies). 0 -
Heck, I'd pick up half a penny and then look around awhile for the other half. 0 -
I do, but they seem so much farther down than they used to be.[?]
Several years ago we were camping near a playground area. I took a couple of dollars of assorted change and salted the sand under the swing sets. About an hour later there was a man with his kids there and he was hanging upside down on the trapeze. He spotted some change and spent the next few minutes gathering it all up. Drat, the best laid plans gone awry.
Another time I was going to a circus in an inside area. There were some long tiled halls in the building. There was an older gentleman there opening rolls of pennys and nickels and slinging them down the halls. He said he had more fun watching the kids go after that change than any roll of nickels was worth.0 -
Yes I do.. and shortly after reading this thread . I spotted a penny sitting on the running board of an SUV in the parking lot as I got out of my car.. I almost picked it up, but figured it belong to the owner of the SUV and thought it might be considered stealing.. [:)] 0 -
You betcha. In fact it's become kind of a game to me. I try to find at least one coin per day and actively watch for them when walking in store parking lots etc. I save the change and eventally "let the world buy me a present".
Most days I do find at least one penny. But there are many days I find much more. I figure I pick up on average about $20-$30 a year.0 -

I'm a cheap Jew. Yes, I pick up pennies wherever I see them.
That's how copper wire was invented. Two Jews spotted a penny on the ground, at the SAME TIME!! (j/k)

A Jamaican engineer once said;"If you watch out for the pennies, the dollars take care of themselves."
I pick up pennies and other change but never keep any in my pockets.
It goes in four jars on a dresser to be periodically rolled and taken to the bank.
Between a wallet, keys and a Keltec there's no room for loose change.0 -
Always. Money is nasty. We handle it without thinking about who had it before us. Paper money is especially gross. Think about it. 0 -
Yes, I sure do. And I also pick up soda and beer cans and bottles. I'm a recycling mercenery ... I can't spell, but I pick up a lot of cans & bottles ... last year I picked up $413.45 worth at 5 cents a piece.
And MA was considering going up to a ten cent deposit ... bummer they didn't do it! It would have doubled my plinking money; and I, also, bought a used Hawken muzzle loader and a Gary Fisher mountain bike with last and this years proceeds.
This year is going to be another good year! [:D] Keep on drinking, boys![8D] [:p] I am not so sure I like the drinking and driving though! [V]0 -
Always! It is amazing how many people don't like them and either throw them or lay them somewhere. I'm always looking and picking. I was always told by my mom that 5 of them make a nickle. Also carry an extra pouch while wistle pig hunting and constantly pick up peoples brass. My good hunting partner just turned his picked up brass in last weekend for a nice $400. Not bad for just picking up scrap. 0 -
Everytime I see one. I check every coin return on vending machines I pass as well, sometimes bend down to take a glance slightly underneath the machine, just in case. Always wanted to dive into a wishing well in the malls and clean it out, I mean, the money ain't doing anybody else any good in there. 0 -
What do you think?[:X] 0 -
I pick up change that i drop the same way i pick up garbage that i drop. 0
