Phil Hartsfield Swords?
Anyone in here ever heard of a swordmaker called Phil Hartsfield? I can't seem to find out much about him except he is from CA and makes topend swords. I found one small handknife he made on the net and it was $600 One blog I noticed online said his swords cost as much as $3000 a piece now?
The reason I'm asking is that my Uncle left me 7 Phil Hartsfield swords and 3 daggers from his AZ estate. Enclosed are some pics.

I was REALLY into knives as a child, so I guess I can understand the attraction. I'm not so into it any more, but it looks like you were left with a nice collection there.
Do you consider them to be heirlooms? Or are you going to sell them? Either way, I can understand wanting to know their value.
How about some better pics? Closeups, detail and all that, you know?0 -
haven't heard of him. yup, a good handmade sword will cost at least 1000$, 3000$ isn't outrageous. the other ones like Paul Chen or Cold Steel aren't handmade.
check out Jody Samson. sounds like they're about in the same league.

although I guarantee you neither one of them can make a katana as good as one made with the traditional methods.0 -
