Natives
Who are the native (small "n") Americans? My understanding is that the folks we call Native Americans came across the Bering Straits ages ago. They were here the longest. Europeans came later and forced the Africans to come as slaves. Chinese came in the nineteenth century. More Europeans came too. SOme Arabs came in the twentieth century. More Eastern Europeans came after the Soviets collapsed (many Rumanians came to Cleveland). Again I ask "who are the natives"?
Am I incorrect in saying that the offspring of American citizens are native Americans. Native means a person was born in the land. American means we are citizens of the United States of AMERICA.
What do you folks think? Who is American?

I'm a Native American of norsk and chech decent.
The American Indian (Native Americans) is also of European decent. The only difference is about 10,000 years.0 -

The sarcasm of the individual posting it indicates to me he probably tends to agree with your point of view, that the possession and settlement of this country by Europeans was not quite the God-willed fulfillment of Manifest Destiny that some would have it.
