Ever been harrassed by a deer?
Well, I hadn't until this morning. Craziest thing I ever saw! I had just released my fifth cutthroat of the morning when nine deer walked down to the rivers edge for a drink. I was standing in the middle of the Bitterroot River with a spinning rod and the only adult buck started walking out towards me with its head down. Thinking it was trying to bluff me, I walked the other way and gave it some more space. It kept coming towards me! I set my rod down in the water and grabbed a couple golf ball sized rocks and chucked them at him. Neither hit him, but splashed right in front of him. He didn't seem to care and kept coming, all the while with his head down (but looking right at me). Had this been a doe, it probably wouldn't have happened at all. However, this was a pretty good size 4 x 4 and I didn't like the idea of him trying to skewer me with a tine. I was actually talking to him and at this point told him to leave me alone or he was going to get it. Of course, I always have a handgun on my side in the event of a bear, or moose conflict. I grabbed another handful of rocks and this time beaned him right in the shoulder. I'm sure it hurt, as I wouldn't have wanted to be hit with a rock myself. He finally got the idea, turned around and walked away (watching me over his back the whole way). Have any of you ever had a deer conflict like this and if so, what were the circumstances? [:0]

Never have, but if feeling really threatened I would've popped 1 shot in the air...the 2nd tween the eyes. 0 -

lol..Yes, i have been harrassed by beaver...splashing all around the boat when trying to fish. He splashed one time too many.[;)]0 -
we had beavers in our pond back in delaware, they would eat our trees near the pond, so we called the fish and wildlife guy, he put traps out and we found one of the traps closed, beaver foot, but no beaver. 0 -
I was wading when this beaver kept swimming up to me and slapping is tail. He swam between my legs once. Very strange. 0 -
Several...and I actually killed an 8 pointer with a knife...believe it or not...I went after that one though...not the same circumstances. 0 -
I was threatened by a doe once while walking a path in the woods behind our property. She didn't come at me, she just stood in the path and let me I was not welcome, stamped the ground, snorted at me. I just kept my eyes on her and backed down the path.

Never had a deer challenge me at all. I've had several encounters with cow elk, and quite a few encounters with bears up in Alaska. Nothing serious ever just alot of chomping and stomping and worst case false charges. 0 -
