A magnum can't be fired out of a LR chamber, and a LR shouldn't be fired in a magnum chamber both due to the magnum being longer and having a thicker case. There are .22 caliber centerfires, but they don't have the straight case that the Magnum and LR have. When people refer to a .22 center fire, they're talking along the lines of a .222, .223, .22-250, .25-06, .270, etc.

    To answer your questions

    1. Yes a 22 magnum is a rimfire...known as the 22WMR
2.&3. No, these are not innerchangable, and under no circumstances should one be used in the other.
    4. there is not a 22LR centerfire to my knowledge, and no centerfire round should even fit in the chamber of your 22LR, and if it does, most likely would not fire.

5.From what you are saying, there is no way lawfully you can hunt Deer and small game with one rifle. You might be able to use a shotgun for both if they let you use buckshot or a slug for deer.

Cut the bottom of a .22 Mag. Use the hollow tube to insert a .22 LR this will fit a 22 Mag. rifle. It can not be done in reverse.
At the cost of a .22 LR why not have 2 rifles?

you can get an adapter to fire lr in a 223 but POI is much different, also the twist is much faster so long range accuracy will suffer with 40 grn, however the sss 60grn works great and is very quiet, but bullet velocity is low and bullet drop becomes a factor at 50' or so.
