Ive heard the recoil on a 9mm Beretta is worse than on a Beretta .40, same with the glock 9mm and .40 is this true?

My (then 16 YO) Daughter liked it - my gun was her favorite...DANGER! DANGER! At Least when she went off to the USAF, they wouldn't let her bring it to BMT. She is due to come visit us in the next week or so, (she's been gone a year) and I am gonna hide it!

You won't feel it near as much as your target.[;)]

Roughly the same as a Hi Point 45, but with better balance.

depends on the load, and recoil spring, i find very little recoil in a .45, but some are more sensitive to recoil period

Use the hand that's been your best friend since 14 as your shootin hand and you should be ok.

    More than my .40!

However, that's not a fair comparison because my .40 holds 2X the ammo of a 1911, so I guess my gun exhibits more total recoil after shooting a full mag than a 1911 would.

The 1911 .45ACP is a old cavalry officer's pistol meant for shooting horses and your own insubordinate troops. You don't need a lot of ammo to execute a soldier. My .40 is meant for drawn-out urban firefights and is a much better combat weapon; the 1911 is a display weapon. Seriously. Who the hell goes into battle with 7 bullets unless you're shooting .50 Beowulf?

Mine doesn't hold 7 rounds. It holds 8.

Really? I'm willin' to bet that my .45 only has 1 or 2 rounds less than your .40...and I rather think .45 recoils less than .40; where .40 is a quick snap at the muzzle, .45 is a slow push--and stays on target better for follow-ups.

I'd also like to point out that 7 rounds of .45 served our fighting men well in REAL long, drawn out urban firefights...in France (really--would there be much difference between a trench and a house? I think not)...Africa...Sicily, Italy...France again, Germany...the Pacific...Korea...Vietnam...

Hmmm---how many of our troops were on horses in those battles?

no no didn't you read, it was a cavalry weapon if custer would have had a high cap .40 history wouldn't be the same, and if patton didn't have to shoot his own soldiers

my draw and fire from under a jacket is .90, i bet if i went to a .40 i could cut that in half[:D]

Tanfoglio Witness, 15 round factory flush-fit magazines (oh wait, 15+1 = 2 X 8 ! Wow, that twice your capacity...), and a heavy steel slide. No snap at the muzzle, more like a push, and throws lead with 500+ ft.lbs. at the muzzle with some factory loads.

    Para-Ordinance P14-45.

    14+1.

    230+P--greater than 500 ft/lbs.

And it makes a bigger hole.

    Try again.
