Is it time to call it quits
My brother called yesterday. He and his wife have one kid, and I know he wants another. She says she does, but doesn't do anything to back it up.
They work together, and she's a workaholic. She'll complain about it, but nothing ever changes.
The big issue is that she never liked my brother's family or me. We're all civil to her, and we think we try, but she's made up her mind.
Their kid is going to start a new school in a week, and they are without child care for a week. I guess they had plans for this week but they fell through. I am in charge of my own schedule, and I have told him that I'm always willing to watch my neice. He told me that his wife wouldn't even let him call me, and ended up sending the kid to a day care sight unseen (it's the same one used by her neighbor) for the week.
I was really surprised by this, but he's ready to file for divorce. I told him that I'm too close to this, I can't handle it for him, so I'd have to find him an attorney. I also was too taken aback to give him any advice. What do you all think?

Have they sought any kind of councelling? I do not believe in divorce except under certain circumstances...People are too quick to throw a marriage away these days. 0 -

I'm a little confused, does your brother have a different family than you??
I would suggest counseling, I thought, IIRC, MI law requires it before divorce??

They loved eachother once, what happened?
They should try to save it for themselves, and for their kids.

She might know something we don't. Just to be fair, i'd like to hear her side...0 -
It should cost $50,000 to get married and 3 bucks for a divorce.

He'd better think this thru. There's little doubt that if she wants the kid, she'll get it. Especially if it's a girl.
And believe me, the courts are notoriously one sided in favor of women in terms of parental rights. She could very easily rape his paycheck and deney him and the rest of his family visitation.
It may be cheaper and better for all concerned to keep her.0 -
I don't know what else is going on, that's another reason why I'm hesitant to jump in... 0 -
Seems like a better time for some professional help than throwing in the towel. If Sandy and I had done that every time it was the easiest way out and before exploring all solutions, we wouldn't have made it a year.
Having both a mom and dad living at home is the most important thing for the one child to me, and both of them need to do EVERYTHING in their power to resolve any issue that would prevent it first.0 -
i would advice counseling, hate to see divorce with kids involved.i guess i only believe in it if one is unfathfull cause the trust is broken. anyway offer your support general exsperience people want you to listen instead of saying what you would do.god bless and good luck to them 0 -

That's one of the reasons why i got back with my son's mother. Another reason is because i love her. My son was suffering. So +1 on that DHEFFLEY. 0
