I think its a great caliber especially as a Military option to go to. I would like to own a Bushmaster chambered for the 6.8 SPC, however I havent seen the price of ammo?

If I remember correctly, my ammo (Remington 125 gr OTM) was between 20 and 30 dollars for a box, leaning closer to 20. I have a DPMS in 6.8 and I love it. Regardless if the round catches on or not, mine is here to stay. And since it uses a .277 bullet, there is a wide variety out there for reloaders.

Just wondering b/c I'm thinking of getting a rock river or an olympic (I like the looks of the olympic better)upper and sticking it on a cheap lower. Would like to have an ar that doesn't use the wimpy 223/5.56 and I don't really want one in 308 either. I do like how the 6.8 has about 2/3 the muzzle energy of a 150 gr 30-06.

I have a T/C Contender 23" carbine barrel in 6.8 SPC. It shoots good and I like it.

I'd like to see them bring back the Remington Model 8 and chamber it in this caliber. Now that would be a hit!

Why not,it's built on the 25-30 Remington brass isn't it?
Any field reports from Iraq or Afghanistan on it?

.223 is a fine round. I don't think the military will switch all it's .223 for 6.8. They will use it for SF, Special Ops.
