AR-30
Well I finally made my choice on what .300 Mag rifle to get. I was debating between the Savage 110 and the Remington 700p. I remembered about the AR-30 and did get much feed back on them.
I was out with a friend shooting at a new place. The guy that owns the place where we were shooting wanted to show off his AR-50 which is cool but I have shot them. I walk in and see another rifle sitting on the floor that looks the same only smaller. Come to find out is the .300 Mag (it comes in .330 Lapua and .308 too) and I talk him into letting me try it.
Gun looks great and is a nice size. Lighter then my buddies Savage with Choate "sniper" stock on it. Bolt feels good and trigger is nice and crisp (Rem 700). So I get a good hold of it and prep for the recoil I know is coming and "flinch" counteracting the recoil. Well the recoil feels weird and I almost missed the 175yd gong. I was trying to process what just happened then I noticed what was wrong..... there is no recoil. This gun kicks like my AR's do. I am flat impressed. I know it is because the big break hanging off the front, but it works.
I squeeze off 2 more rounds and you can see your hits through the scope. A guy could easily shoot this thing all day long and not suffer. Even with the muzzle break this gun looks good, holds good, and shoots good.
With that said there are 3 down sides. First is the safety location. It works but it is mounted high on the right side of the action Rem 700 style which is hard to get to with a pistol grip. Second is the AR pistol grip. I am not sure if you can replace it but if you can that will make it that much better. Third is getting one. Apparently they are only made from time to time. I see there is one listed here now but I need to hit my local dealer tomorrow and see if he can get one. I need to call Armalite too and see what the thread pitch is on the BBL to see if I will need to do something different to mount my suppressor or if it will thread right on.

I sure wish they would pick up the pace, I have had a AR-30 on order since june, I finally got my friend to call armalite, 6 to 8 months.
its almost as bad for the trijion ta55a, 8 months.
I understand that most of them are going overseas.
can really complain, our guys need the best. So I will wait

I emailed them not to long ago and they told me I had to go to my nearest dealer, place a order, and more than likely the wait was going to be a year or more..............0 -
I called all over, cant find dealer that has one, says he would have to call armalite. they said 8 to 12 months.

You have to place a order with the dealer, then wait almost a year0 -

Why do you need to place an order with a dealer? Order one yourself. It will still need to be sent to a dealer for the transfer though.0 -
