I have some rolling block actions I want to sell but all the auction sites I go to require a credit card to be listed with them.I dont have any credit cards asnd dont want any as I pay as I go.Are there any auction site that dont require a credit card or is there a way to put some thing on Gunbroker without a credit card.

If a person was having an auction for an item and listed a starting price for $1.99 with no reserve. the item is worth around $15-20 They recieved a bid and no others bid on the item. Then the seller of the item says he is not selling the item for $2.00 and removes the item from the auction and cancelles all bids.

My question is, shouldnt he be held accountable for his auction? And shouldnt he have to sell the item to the person that placed the bid even if it was for $2.00? Again he set no reserve.

    opinions please

    Thanks

I do not understand why there are many fine firearms on this site that never recieve bids. I know for a fact that there are at least three right that are on auction with a buy now price much less then MSRP. Why is it that noone bids on these items?

I continue to be amazed every time I go to a gun auction. Or any auction for that matter.

Friday afternoon I saw a .40 caliber Hi Point sell for $125 plus 10% buyers premium plus 6.5% sales tax.

    That's $145.63!

A Colt 1862 Police Percussion Revolver that was BROKEN IN TWO went for $900!

A Star model Super A sold for $325

A Star Model BM with a cracked grip sold for $275

A refinished Walther P38 byf 43 pistol with fading gold plated trigger, hammer, and take down lever went for $500.

A run of the mill P1 pistol went for $300.

if you bid what you want to bid, and win it, what does it matter?

I doubt that there's really any way to tell if a bid is a shil bid, unless the bid can somehow be traced back to the sellers PC.
I'm sure it probably happens. Most likely w/seller having friend/family do it.
But I also think alot of the time it "appears" to happen, it's actually someone who wanted the item. But had a limit he was willing or able to pay for it. When bids went over his limit, he stops bidding. But has driven the price up for others.

It is illegal of course,,,BUT, I have bid on items that people have plugged on the forums and would have GLADLY payed what I bid. On N.R. auctions with a dollar start its fun to bid a few times to get it going, just like a in person auction,,,if an auctioneer has a Colt Python in the box and says "who will start it off at a dollar", wellllll every person in the room raises their hands,,,bidding procedes until the people that really want it ,,,game over. It is a family here with a few black sheep,[:o)] as all families have,,,stick around, quite a learning site..imo,,,nambu

Shill bidding is bad form, and not allowed.

Shill bidding is also probably very difficult to police.

"Bumping" a member's auction is not necessarily shill bidding. It is only shill bidding if the person doing the "bumping" has no intention of buying if he ends up the high bidder. Most of our members who "bump" would gladly pay what they bid, but most don't get the chance.

a bump means take a stab at it for me, meaning come see if your bump wins it and makes my day.

ALSO IF A 'SHILL' OVER BIDS AND WINS HIS/HER OWN AUCTION HE/SHE HAS TO PAY THE AUCTION FEE'S.

    Thanks
i was curios as most auctions sites will try to avoid answering the question. as far as what it matters thats what i thought a Reserve was for .if you bid just to push the price up then its not a fair auction and its most likly against the law in most states.i would hate to see a good site get a black eye for not being pro active .as a new member i have not seen any thing thats says shill bids are goin on just a post that seem to suggest that it was going on.
    thanks
    for the warm welcome

It is the same at a estate auction members of the family will push an item to make sure it bring what they wish, but if they are not careful they keep it. really not your loss you can always find another one.

    Ya, I'm pretty PO'd. [:(!][:(!]
I didn't win ANY of the (penny no reserve) auctions that I bid a penny on. I would have been MORE than happy to win those auctions.

Of course, I didn't win the auction that I bid $2,500 on either. [:(]

Shill bidding "can" be easy to spot, and if suspected can be reported on the auction side. Reporting it here in the forums doesn't do any good, as we have nothing to do with the auction side of things.
