4 days? My daughter got suspended for the rest of the semester. School parking lot monitor spotted a small pocketknife that had fallen out of one her male friends pocket, in the back seat of her car. She didn't even know it was there.
This was in Sept. just a couple of weeks into the 1st semester of her Senior year. Now she will not graduate w/her class.
School officals said it was "their duty" to expell this kid who has never been in ANY trouble, and is not a threat to anyone.
She will not be returning to school. But instead plans to get her GED.

We used to keep shotguns and .22's in our cars in the school parking lot so we could go squirrel hunting after school. I even brought an old Kettner double barrel into my graphic arts class so I could take close up pics of it. My teacher told me to bring it in. Kept it in my locker all day. Stupid rules like this are not going to prevent violence.

    Times change.

We could take guns to high school, and leave them locked in our cars.

My old car's doors wouldn't lock, and neither would the trunk.

It was a 1954 Plymouth that I bought for $25.00

I carried my shotgun, .22 rifle, whatever, across the campus to the Administration building, and left it with the principal, picked it up after school, and went hunting. Even left my .22 revolver with him a few times. Strapped it on my hip walking across campus, so I could carry my shotgun and books.[:D]

    Times change.

Another reminder that I am pleased that I won't be around in another 20 years.

That pretty much covers it. Sad, ain't it. I'll never quite understand how things have evolved that way...

i got my truck and me searched once in high school, there were a few empty shell cases in the bed, rusty old .22 cases, maybe a few 7.62x39 and 12 guage hulls, but all of them were empty and had been there for quite some time and pretty rusty, but when i came out to my truck to drive home, the principal, vice principal and a local cop were there to search me and my vehicle on "suspicion of carrying a deadly weapon"

my grandpa tells stories of taking his shotgun to school so he could go hunting afterwards.

different times, i'm sorry i was born so late in the erosion of our Nation [V]

I not only had rifles and shotguns in my gun rack of my pickup, I had a pistol on the dash. I also once took a coyote to show and tell for my government class. Don

things sure have changed, in the 70's
we all had our easy rider rifle racks.
and yes they were rifles and shotguns
in them. How else could we go hunting
    after skipping class.

Graduated in 1986. We had guns all over the place. We all went hunting before school, after school.....we shot skeet in FFA during school hours, with all the students there, nobody ever got hurt or killed. What a disturbing bunch of hooey. [V]

If you were to have walked through my high school parking lot back in the early 70's you would have seen a rifle or shotgun hanging in the gun rack of almost every truck. Even the principle kept one in his. That was in East Texas back then, and I am sure it isn't that way now.[V]
