Has anyone used this befor and is it easy to do?
Just bought some to do my pistol. Hope it will come out ok.

    Well I just tried some of this and have some questions.

    I used a can of Dura Bake on some mags and a 10/22 receiver. The finish was a little duller then I had hoped, but the finish is very very hard and paint like.

    I just tried some Duracoat yesterday and I am not sure about it. It was very easy to apply apply with an airbrush. It went on very smooth, has a great color. The finish seems more like a coating then a paint which is fine with me. The problem I am having is that I can scrape it off with my thumb nail [V].

    I sprayed a shotgun BBL for buddy and had some mags laying there that needed finished too so I used the extra paint on them. I have the bbl up and have not touched it but was messing with the mags as they would be easy to fix. It has been 24hrs since I did the finsh, am I not waiting long enough?

    On all the parts I used a wire wheel on the Dremel and some CLP to remove the old finish and rough things up a bit. On a couple of the mags I used some 240 grit sand paper to get off rust spots (Sten mags). I then cleaned, then degreased all the parts.

    Any idea why the finish would come off?

    Has anyone ever applied this themselves?

    I am wanting to color match the aluminum freefloat handguard on my Bushmaster Predator to the Magpul Flat Dark Earth PRS stock I just installed.

    I just cant seem to find any spray matte color that matches or closely matches that color.

    I have used it but only in black. It is a very hard and durable finish if you follow directions. I used an airbrush and it came out really good. It takes about 3-4 weeks for it to reach its maximum hardness so you have to be careful until then. Then it is extremely hard to scratch. Midway has a large number of colors.

    A wise man would experiment on something of little or no value until he is confident enough that he can do the project.
    a project like this should only take a wee bit of practice and reading!!!

    Call Lauer Custom Weaponry and order the color. If they do not have the color they can match any sample you send.

    i've used it on both guns and motorcycle (engine) parts. it's awesome stuff.

    the BEST way to apply it is with an airbrush though. thin it out about 10-15% more than the instructions and apply layers of super thin coats.

    you can also mix colors on the fly to get your preference. i like a satin finish and you can mix the gloss black and matte black and get a nice semi-gloss look. (I use that on a motorcycle engine)

    degreasing is absolutely essential.

    the "PreVal" sprayers are only good for rough projects, i would not use them for a finish look. if this is for a trunk gun, the Preval sprayer will be fine as you might not care about the "perfect" look.
