All of the major makers have great guns. Most offer a "target" style package with longer BBL's, 2 stage triggers, flat tops for uppers, ect. I have a Bushmaster Varminiter as my "target" AR and really like it. Most if not all of these guns will easily hold 1 MOA or less. If you know what caliber you want or what kind of set up (basic or tricked out) we can be more help. You can get AR's in just about any caliber from .22 to .308.

Whichever brand you get make sure you get the A3 or A4 flat receiver version. That will allow you to add a scope the easiest.

I recommend a Rock River [brand] AR-15 with a nice bull barrel if you are going to get an AR at all. They make the best. If you want something with more punch than .223, then DPMS [brand] makes an AR chambered in .243 that's great for predator hunting.

Other options for semi-auto varmint guns include the Ruger "Ranch Rifle" in .223 Rem; it doesn't have quite the same long-distance accuracy of an AR rifle, but it's cheaper and still works for several hundred yards with the right ammo. If you're hiking around much with it, you could consider a Kel-Tec SU-16 folding carbine with 18" barrel in .223 because it's easy to lug around and still holds its aim well, although not as well as the before mentioned guns past 250yds (it's mostly polymer).
