fsh thanks for the link i'll check it out.
watrulookinat,
I saw that video before. I am hoping the caliber of people showing up if this would happen would be a little slower. Also mine is bolted into a slab and studs and in a closet where there is no room for leverage- the door jam would move the fulcrum further out and take force away(my only saving grace)
Like I said the people that got my friends used a pizza cutter and a butter knife to pry(not a bolt lock) 79 dollar job.0 -

D@mn I need some more money!!! LOL $7000
Looking for something a little more secure than the stack-on's
The safe i have now has 8 bolts i think--I'll be giving it to my father when i get a new one.0 -
It's a wake up call for all of us and on youtube you can learn how to pick any lock. First time I watched it I about puked and my buddy said he stored cash in his. It's better to know than think your safe and your not.[:(!][V][xx(][:(] 0 -
Yeah,I saw a few of those and that god awfull "bump key" to get into a home--I wanted to drive to the first new center and kick some butt.
I never will understand how we always spread knowledge of how to become a better criminal.0 -
A safe is to keep honest people honest.
DONT ADVERTISE that you have a safe or any weapons. Your loose lips can cost you a small fortune.
But if you do get broken into by an experienced amateur, or a" Pro ", you're pretty much screwed!!!
Any safe without being properly secured and mounted, And without a well monitored alarm system(s), is a waste of time and money.
You might as well as leave them lying around in the living room floor.
Any safe is good. But,typically you get what you pay for in quality.
Again, If you don't secure the safe through your slab.
Your just kidding yourself into thinking they are secure.
On alarms systems, use 2 they are cheap!!!
Use the house alarm, as a primary system, to go off when someone enters the house. And create a special alarm zone room /area where the safe is, on the primary house alarm.
Placement of the safe is important too!
Preferably in the most secure and strongest closet in the house.
Or even better build youself a safe room in the garage.
Always use a secondary alarm system for the safe.
Why?
Alert the alarm monitoring company that when the secured area's 1st alarm goes off , to start calling the cops and everyone else. The dispatcher should inform the cops the intruders have entered the area where firearms are stored.
Once the second alarm goes off which is attached directly to the safe.
The alarm dispatchers need to call the cops and tell them. The intruders are now "armed with weapons."
Make sure the alarm company creates some false "telephone alarm loops" made for the outside of the house.
This is the most likly place thiefs will cut, to try to knock out the alarm systems telephone connection.
All of the wiring to connect to the phone lines should be inside the house, not hanging outside of the house.
Giving the thief, false confidence that he has disabled your phone system for the alarm.
When actualy, he just triggered it!!, by cutting the "false phone loops".
Also look into a "secondary" cell phone based alarm system for the safe its self.
The cost of the extra cell phone, for the safes alarm, will cost you maybe $2-$5 to your current cell phone plan a month.
CS (teargas) systems are also available, but tend to be expensive. Oh yeah and messy too!!!0 -
The best way to buy a great safe for cheep is to get a job at Bass Pro Shops and then buy this safe:
http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_95080_400004020_400000000_400004000_400-4-20
List price on the safe is $2000.00, but as a Bass Pro employee you would get 40% off of all Redhead marked products. So that would be a $800.00 savings for a total price of only $1200.000 -
On the world of safes ... you get exactly what you pay for.
Buy a much cheaper one and if somebody gets through it
in five minutes with a crowbar ... or picks it up and runs
off with it .... be sure to tell us.0 -
dont laugh, but Heritage safes, yoiu bolt together.
if you want one in a closet, you can get one put it together
panel by panel.
I am happy with mine. I had a broom closet, getting a safe in there was my problem, but it bolted together just fine. Its not in sight.0 -
ahhh put it in an oil drum and burrie the dam stuff 0 -
