(CBS) RICHMOND, Cal. Crafty thieves on the West Coast have found a strange use for an everyday object.
Police in Richmond, California said there has been an increase in the thefts of oven doors recently.
The pilfered pieces are apparently sold on the street as plasma televisions for approximately $300 a piece.
Police said customers realize their mistake after opening up a box containing the stolen doors.
Similar incidents have been reported throughout the country.
