Fire pics.

After the fire pics the other day I thought that might make a cool pic thread. Here is a some cool video and pics that I took in Aug on the Skyland fire in MT. Our team web guy thought they were cool enough to put on the Forest Service web site

Look for the box that says "Related Article Links" and click on the video or pic links.

Use the "raw" video link if you have good high speed it is a larger file but looks better.

The video is not very high quailty but it is all that can be uploaded. My full def copy is awsome.

    We never got to try that..pure determination..and some dozers..was all we used to build line..of course in a wilderness area you use fire rakes..pulaskis..shovels..etc..unless an act of congress lets you use mechanized machinery to combat the fire..back burn always worked good when we could use that technique too..[:D]..great vid..thanks Nwcid..Loko[8D]

    This is only the second fire I have been on (5yrs doing this) where they have used this. This was not wilderness but was a "limited" access area. It was a 5 mile ride in by ATV, pretty good treck for a dozer.

    I am a private guy. I am an AD paramedic on PNW team 3. We are out of region 6 (WA and OR) but we are a national team. I get hired through the Colville NF.

    ahh..thats good work ..long hours good pay..I enjoyed it..I had worked my way off the ground to supply leader in camps..basically in charge of every piece of equipment on the fire from trucks to dozers to..you name it..sure miss the comraderie [sp] of fire camps out west..I worked on region 9 Monogahela N.F in West Virginia and the Wayne N.F. in Ohio...learned alot of valuable lessons...Loko[;)][:D]

    Since my user name is "Heliman", it's probably obvious to be helicopter related. That being said, my company is involved in most fires in the west mainly, but some nationally. Not to give the name out but we fly Chinooks and Sea knights to great affect in a water dropping role. I am a "shop guy" who repairs engines, but have been out many times on maintenance runs to various nasty fires. They can be very dramatic and sometimes tragic. Cudo's to all who do the hard ground work![:D]
