To buy or not?

Ive been thinking about buying a .222 Rifle for about a year. I have hunting rifles chambered in .223, 22-250, .204 Ruger and a .22 Hornet. But there is something about a bolt action .222 I like, its not like I need one just that I would like to have one. Ive had 2 or 3 people tell me not to buy one because it had no place among today's cartridges, and ammo may be hard to find. I searched GB and found only one .222, but it was a bench rifle. I would appreciate your opinions. Do you think it will still be a desirable cartridge and easy to buy ammo for, or do you think it's on its way out?

    Me being a handloader and if I have a desire like you have for a 222 I would jump on it.

    Check out the auctions for the Savage 340 bolt action. These aren't pretty guns, but I hear they are reasonably accurate. Also, they made some in the near-obsolete .225 Winchester. This caliber usually brings a premium. My ex son in law has one that his dad left him.

    Learn to reload and buy as many "undesireable" caliber guns as possible.

    My Dad is about to sell his Savage 24V-A in .222 over 20guage. Single shot I know, but still pretty accurate.[8)]

    I like my 222 and have been loading for it for more than 35 years. It's in a Rem 722. I think the longer neck is way better than the .223 short one. I read that they discontinueing the 222. Very sad. On the other hand there is all those new short and super short shells to write up and sell. When was the last new game animal introduced?

    My dad is taking the Savage and a model 85 Taurus 2" Stainless revolver to a show on Dec. 1st. He is going to swap a guy for a Ruger #1 in .280 Rem. I think it's a done deal.
