The more it happens the more innocent people lose their lives. And the more that happens you and I are one step closer to losing our guns.

Sunday 12-9-07, Lone man kills 2 at a Denver youth mission. Later (same shooter?) 4 people are shot and wounded in church parking lot in Colo Springs. Sorry, no links, but you can Google it.

When is someone going to shot back and drop these madmen in their tracks?

Not soon enough tr, not soon enough.[V]

Well that's number 3. These things usually come in threes. So hopefully this is it for a while.

What type of weapon did this individual use? A friend says the media is saying it was an assault rifle. I'm hoping he is wrong.

Fox is reporting that the lone gunman was shot and killed by an armed security guard at the church.

I can honestly say that I have NEVER seen a church with armed security guards on their premises. If I cant carry in a church because they say it is a sanctuary...why does the church feel the need to hire armed guards?????

Who said that you can't carry in a church? Never heard of it myself. A church in our town recently had a meeting with their staff about this exact thing, and if I remember right, they're planning on having armed security at some point.

They way criminals break in and rob churches they need to be armed.

I didn't know that. Our only restrictions up here in SD are no on or off sale booze joints. Sorry 'bout that.

quote:(CNN) -- A black-clad man armed with a rifle opened fire on worshippers at a Colorado Springs, Colorado, megachurch Sunday afternoon, wounding several people, church and hospital officials reported.

Rob Brendle, an associate pastor at New Life Church, said the attack took place inside the church after a late-morning service and that the suspect was fatally shot.

But police spokesman Lt. Fletcher Howard said he could confirm no fatalities, and that all of the shooting occurred outside the church, in the parking lot.

"When we got here, there were victims out here in the parking lot and everyone else was in the church," he said.

He said a suspect was in custody, but police do not know the motive for the attack nor any relationship between the suspect and the victims. Howard would not confirm the number of wounded, but added, "We have some people that are in shock, which is to be expected after an event like this takes place."

Lt. Lari Sevene, a spokeswoman for the El Paso County Sheriff's Department, said the attack took place shortly after 1 p.m. and said possibly two or three people were wounded. And Amy Sufak, a spokeswoman for Penrose-St. Francis Hospital in Colorado Springs, told CNN that several victims were taken to the hospital. Watch report about shootings in Colorado ?

As of Sunday afternoon, there was no known connection between the two incidents. Arvada and Colorado Springs are about 70 miles apart.

The non-denominational church is on the northwestern outskirts of Colorado Springs, near the U.S. Air Force Academy. It claims a membership of more than 10,000.

The church was founded by the Rev. Ted Haggard, an evangelical Christian leader who was ousted in 2006 after allegations that he had been a client of a male prostitute from whom he had purchased drugs. Haggard admitted to undisclosed "sexual immorality" and called himself "a deceiver and a liar" in a letter to the congregation.

Not a problem...every state has unique limitations.

I really wish that states would just dump the concealed carry part and allow open carry. I honestly think that crime would drop even more...after all its very rare that you hear of a crook walking into a place where LEOs are at with multiple sidearms displayed and try to rob it.

Not to mention, some of the LEOs I know in this area comment they would like to know that there is an armed citizen nearby if they need assistance. Not to mention it is just a PITA trying to keep a pistol concealed in West TX in the middle of summer.[:p]

I am part of the security team at our Church, but we do not carry.Worst case scenario a gunman comes in and starts firing, if several security shot back more bystanders could be hit in a crowded congregation. If enough security rush the shooter he would be subdued. The question is in what amount of time?We have people out at the doors to forewarn. It,s a shame the U.S. Church has come to this, but looking back Christians have been killed for their beliefs for thousands of years in foreign lands.Actually in all probability their could be more Christian Martyrs today than in the days of the Roman Empire. There were close to 164,000 Christians martyred in the world in 1999,according to the World Christian Encyclopedia.

now I'm not much of a religious man,
but if someone decides to carry to church one day, who's not to say that God knew that something bad would happen and wanted that man (or woman) to protect His people???

    well that's retarded!
Haven't your clown commanders heard of something called Blitzkrieg? It was about 50 years old during Desert Storm!

Maybe its just me but knowing what I know about history and modern breakthrough tactics at teh very leats I would have the commander responsible for those orders sacked. If I was really pissed that day I would have him shot for jeapordizing his men!

I am glad that nothing happened to your unit when you had no friggin ammo to fight back with.
