Ruger #1 Fans?
Iv'e been a member about a month and haven't seen anything discussed regarding single shot rifles. I for one am very fond of them and use them almost exclusively for hunting. That's not to say I don't enjoy bolts and semis, I do. I just like singles better. I shoot Ruger No.1's. I currently have 3. Two 1B's in 7mm Rem. Mag and 300 Win Mag. I also have my most recent purchase, a K1-A in 35 Whelen. I have read a lot of articles on #1's and mostly pro opinions. All 3 of mine shoot sub-MOA with factory ammo! Whether I am lucky for getting good ones or not, I don't know, but they do shoot good. Thought I would fish for some opinions.[:D]

One of the best until Bert gets here. 0 -
Also have a Pedersoli 45-70 Sharps. It's fun too![:)] 0 -
I own 2 of them one in 45-70 and one in 375h&h, Had to put a hicks acc thing in both of them before they would clover leaf at 100 yards, I like them BUT only if they shood good. 0 -
I've shot a couple of them in .22LR. I like what I've seen. I may need to acquire some when I'm making more money! 0 -
Iv wanted one for a long time just never have came up with the $ for it.
I do like shooting my encore does that count [:D][:D]0 -
I'd wanted one for many years and finially got a 1B in .270. Very dissappointed in stock fit and finish. Doesn't shoot all that well with factory ammo. I'm saving for a Winchester high wall. 0 -
I find the No. 1A to be just about the most beautiful rifle ever made. I have three. A 243 I picked up about 10 years ago. Someone shortened the butt for a kid so I put the spacer on until I can find a replacement. So far no luck. A 7x57 that I got off GB a year or so back and a 458 "Tropical" that I swapped from a buddy a few months ago.
I have thought about getting one in 30-06 and making it into a 300 H&H just because that's such a classic cartridge and it would be cool in this classic rifle.
I like other single-shot rifles, too. Here's a shot of a Trapdoor Springfield replica in 45-50, a Remington Rolling Block replica in 30-30 (I know, an odd caliber for such a gun), a Stevens 22 from around 1915 and a Savage 22 made in the 1970s.
I also have a fondness for Martinis. One is a converted military rifle in 45-70 and the other is a 22 target rifle.

The next purchase for me will probably be a Tropical in 375 H&H. I think the No. 1 is the best looking rifle, also. I wonder if Ruger will chamber it in the 380 ruger? Probably......[8D] 0 -
I am the proud owner of two. A light Sporter in 30-06 and a standard in .300 win mag. 0 -
I didn't realize they made a #1 Ruger in a 22LR, got photo's ?

Went to an auction a couple of years and there was a # 1 in .458 and a # 3 in .44 mag. I really wanted the # 1 but didn't know what in the hell I would ever do with a .458. I ended up stealing the # 3 for $300. Love it. It is very accurate. Hopefully Il. will change the deer hunting laws so that the use of rifles in the acceptable pistol cal. will be permitted. 0 -
A #3 would probably be nice to have also. I thought about one in 38-55 or 375 win. They are going up in value, so I hope I find one soon. It's all about choices. I guess the best deal I come across is the direction I will go.[?] 0
