I've closed my ebay account have you....
As per this announcement:
http://www2.ebay.com/aw/core/200707.shtml#2007-07-30094109
I have closed my ebay Pay Pal accounts. Has every one else?
Of course they ask "We value you as a customer, please tell us why you are leaving?"
My Response:
As per your request I am writing this to to inform you why I am closing my eBay account. I find your new policy on buying and selling gun parts ignorant and uninformed. I would assume that based on your logic for removing gun parts, you will also be removing any listings for Auto Parts. Since Cars kill twice as many people as guns each year, they are obviously much more of a threat to society than guns. And yet you seem to understand that it is not the actual car that is the problem, it is the actions of the people behind the wheel. This is also tru for gun, the gun is not the problem, it is the action of the person pulling the trigger that dictates the outcome. So again, based on your logic, any performance part of a car should also be forbidden for sale on ebay, obviously these things enable people to speed.
Similarly, all knives should be banned on eBay as they are used to commit crimes too. Likewise, baseball bats, Golf clubs are used to inflict injury. Also, Small toys cause choking hazards, as does Jewelry, smoking related items like pipes and cigars cause cause cancer, wine causes, alcoholism, and the Adult movies section of ebay causes women to be raped.
So pretty much everything on eBay can be used for good or bad depending on how the person chooses to use it. Based on that, I'm sure you will pretty much ban every thing, and hence there is no need for me to have an account

Small Toy - Choking Hazard - Should be banned.0 -
Well, if a thief ever manages to get in my house, I'm suing eBay because I know he got the picks from there.
If they're liable for brokering a sale on a gun holster to some madman, then they're liable to brokering a sale on lock picks to a thief.0 -
what about my pitchfork collection I bought from there? [:o)]..Loko 0 -
No, Im keepin my options open. 0 -
no, i have to admit, ebay is a great tool for finding stuff, just not gun stuff anymore, i sent them a fiery message similar to the one you sent, but i dont think ill close the account 0 -

No, old marbles, mostly latticinos and Chinas. A little spendy for the slingshot. Need ball bearings for the sling shot ("You'll put your eye out playing with those..."0 -
No. I'll keep my options open. My mom loves to sit with me at the computer, and "window-shop" on E-bay. I won't deny my dear old mammy 'nothin. And it's quality time together.
And did you know GB is in bed with E-bay? Why else would they say to "try it"???? [Ref GB home page-Industry News].
Best, Joe0 -
E-bay is a great place to buy and sell, just not gun stuff. Get over it. By the way, your grocery store does not sell gun parts either, so quit going there too.
Got Guns?0 -

They sell bump keys on Ebay also. Much easier to use.0 -
I will never use ebay again. They can kiss my arse. 0 -

What's your eBay ID? Would love to check out what you're selling.0 -
Well put Wally 0 -
I closed mine. All I bought was the gun stuff they banned. Now; if GB will get smart and stop the mass RETAIL listings from interfering with the actual auctions I might buy more here. 0 -

I dumped my PayPal account several years ago. I never buy guy stuff anywhere but here. I still buy a coin or two from ebay, so I'll leave that opportunity open. 0 -

You work for E-BAY, can you not figure it out? [:D]0 -
I haven't closed it but I have not used it in a very long time. I find that GB or AR15.com or AKForums offer way better deals than one can find on eBay for gun parts- plus no fees!! I still keep eBay for other things although I haven't done any business lately. 0 -

Well, that's not a very good argument at all. My grocery store advertises that they sell Groceries. eBay represents itself as a model of a free and open market where you can find and buy anything. And that it's supply and demand.
A better analogy would be Modell's Sporting Goods vs. Dicks Sporting Goods. I don't shop at Modell's at all, for any sporting goods.
I just find it hypocritical for instance that I can buy a spear gun, on eBay, but I can't buy a holster. I can buy a Tomahawk, a War Club, Swords, Knives, etc, but I can't buy a set of grips for my 1911?
eBay shouldn't preach that the policy is because they are socially responsible. If they want to play holier than thou, go all the way. Dump the wine, the poker chips, the porn, etc. There are people that believe that the world would be better without these inanimate objects too.
At least Wal-Mart is up front, it's about the money. I have two stores withing 15 miles of me. One sells guns, the other does not. Why? Supply and Demand. One is in an extremely rural area, and it's one of the few stores around, so people buy guns in that market. They other stopped selling guns about a year ago, why? There is a local gun store that most people patronize.
I guess I'm just tired of hypocritical companies, and this is a stand I'm taking. I'm gonna stop buying 'American' cars that are made in Mexico. I'll buy a Japanese car that's made in Kentucky. [:D]0
