R.I.P. Deputy Vu Nguyen

Sheriff's Detective Vu Nguyen (pronounced WIN), 37, died Wednesday evening from a bullet wound to the neck.

Folks, this is an awful story to see - another ruthless gangster kills a man who had dedicated the past 7 years of his life to helping gang members get out and eradicating South Sacramento of gang activity.

Deputy Nguyen's murder was a tragic loss.

Please keep his wife in your prayers. This would have been their first Christmas together.

    It's a damn shame when something like this happens. When doesn't the government spend time on trying to disarm crimals and gang bangers? They just like th screw with us. My condolences to his family.RIP- he made the ultimate sacrifice. He is a hero.

    According to the story it was a dark skinned asian male, 5'4".

    Truly sad. I myself have served in the Navy, law enforcement and now am a Project Manager in IT. By far, I loved the Navy the most, LE next and this last thing... well, LAST.

    This is a very sad story. A friend of mine works just a few blocks away from were this incident took place. He said there were 100+ patrol cars there within minutes. As of the last night they had not ret found the scum that shoot Detective Nguyen. I hope that thye find him soon. May he rest in peace.

    Update - Deputy Killed

    At a press update this evening, Sacramento County Sheriff John McGinness identified 37-year old Detective Vu Nguyen as the slain officer.

    The search for the suspect continues as officers continue to follow up leads that continue to be developed at the scene and phoned into the tip lines. The search will continue until all leads are exhausted.

    The suspect in the shooting is described as possibly being an Asian male with a dark complexion, between the ages of 18-20, 5'4" tall, with a slight build and weighing between 130- 140 pounds, he may possibly be wearing a puffy green camouflage jacket.

    Sacramento Sheriff's Gang Detectives were in the south area of Sacramento when they encountered a suspicious person. When contacted by officers, this subject began running from the detectives who pursued him on foot. The foot pursuit went through numerous residential backyards. Pursuing officers heard multiple gunshots and soon discovered the victim officer had been shot and wounded, in a rear yard.

    The suspect has been described as possibly An Asian male with a dark complexion , 18-20 years of age, 5 foot 4 inches tall with a thin build weighing 130 to 140 pounds. He was last seen wearing a puffy green camouflage jacket

    Responding officers have established a large perimeter in the south Sacramento area. An operational command post was established at 6200 Franklin Boulevard as officers continue to search for the suspect.

    The wounded officer was transported to UC Davis Medical Center in critical condition.

    It appears that they caught the shooter in the night. Name is not being released since he is 16 years old.

    I hope to hell they do not treat this POS as a minor. He killed a cop...he needs to fry.
