587 stroker information?

One of my buddies has one of these - he is going to sell it to me on payments for a show car probably - itll be a nice one for sure. he wants 1 grand for this - will take payments even if it takes 2 years - he wants me to have it i suppose. Ups / downs on this motor? yes, I know it can be a painful one if treated wrong.

587 stroker, 845 HP
9.85 in quarter test
launch at post is .5
11:5:1 18 high rise, paxton blower, (16 FPP)
dyno at 840 HP
top end is estimated around 190 in a 1/4 mile
GUARNTEED 9 seconds - 10 seconds.
Jenkins attributes the motor to the 427 HEMI

    Dont know, but its a good deal I cant pass up. He has had BIGGER offers but wants it to go to someone he knows, and can trust with it, hes a master mechanic (certified or something) for 11 years - just built it, sold it - they sold the car to him - he did the stuff on it like oil chance and stuff, and wants to sell the motor.

    I might slap it in a camaro.

    Nooooo. No NOS for me, That stuff will gunk up your motor so fast...

    He only wants a grand for it? he must be a REALLY good buddy, you will need to run a higher octane fuel in it due to the compression,so it will need to be available. I will tell you now, if it ends up being in the 9's in the qtr. it will be NOWHERE near 190 mph trap speed. But that really matter when you're in the 9's that is cruz'in. what ever you put it in, just remember that the entire drive train will need to be able to withstand the hoursepower and torque. good luck and if you want to get rid of it down the road, it will be a nice money maker.

    How much ya want for it? I got a nice little 1977 Dodge stepside waitin in the wings for the winter. It is screeming for a big block.

    Wow! must be a really good friend,for a grand you couldnt buy one of the heads.I would jump all over that if its true.Dont think I would want that high of compression on a street car though.A 190 trap speed in the 1/4 would put you in the high 7's.Thats more like a 1200 hp car with those timeslips....unless you somehow manage to stuff it in a Festiva[:D]

    Have you ever driven a race motor on the street ??

    Have you seen the engine ??

    I'm confused about what it is - a chevy rat motor or a MOPAR HEMI ??

    If it's a MOPAR, have you ever done an engine swap where the engine and chassis were from profoundly different makes ??

    Do you have any idea what that kind of torque will do to a unit body ??

    Have you ever built a tube frame car for the street ??

    By the time you are done, you will have a lot of cash in the street car.

    Just curious.

    Keep in mind what Dad told me: " If a deal sounds to good to be true - it is ".
