Cutting the Cord
I don't understand the tradition of the father cutting the cord after a birth. I think it's goofy. Let the freaking professional do it. That's what we are paying the bill for.
I told my wife she can do it. Now she's made at me. I guess I said something wrong.

Ya' think? Never make a pregnant woman mad. They WILL cut you! [:0]
With both our kids, I never cut the cord. Son was an emergency birh, cord was around his neck. Daughter shot out like a cannon before anyone was really ready. Doctor wasn't even in the room. SOB still sent me a bill though! [:(!]0 -
Not me. Luckily when my two boys were born, this big deal of having the husbands in the delivery room hadn't caught on. Too go further, my two boys were born well away from any hunting season openers, etc. Advise from my dad. He was a wise man. [:)][:)]

Ughh... I had to be in the delivery room and cut the cord on both kids. The second sprayed blood all over me and my hospital visitor badge so we kept the badge for the album.
BTW: It is hard to cut - a wierd feeling!0 -
Just stand in the corner and keep out of the way. Bring a camera. Bragging rights to say "I Wuz There"!!! Joe 0 -

I have a 11 yr old and 8 yr old twins.
I went to the "coaching classes" but when the time came, I forgot what to do in the excitement.
Anyway, I did take pics and videos of the event and cut the cord on all 3 of my kids. Its no biggie. The doc clamps the cord and tells you where to cut. Its like cutting a hotdog with a scissor.
IMO, you should be there to comfort your wife and cut the cord.
You'll really appreciate what a woman goes through during birth.
It will bring you closer to your wife and your child.
Go for it!!0 -
