I hate waiting for someone else..........(Rant)

We were going to leave at 4:30 AM this morning for our antelope hunt. The guy that "organized" our trip dropped his rifle last night and snapped the front scope rail screw off flush. Doh! He called me at 4:45 to tell me that he's waiting for his gunsmith to open. Doh! I have a machine shop at my home and have everything necessary. I do custom work for people at my gun club all the time. I also make scale miniature firearms, which 95% of gunsmiths wouldn't even consider. He declined, as he didn't want his "Sako" worked on by anyone but a professional gunsmith. I reluctantly offered him the use of my father's Weatherby (.300 Win Mag), but again he declined. Needless to say, I won't be hunting with this guy again anytime soon. [V]

...[:D] I had a friend who had a brother-in-law that would make you GLAD to hunt w/your "buddy" [:0]. JUST one..and not the worst example of what this idiot was capable of.
...my friend was INVITED by his BIL to hunt a VERY good ranch deep West Texas for HALF PRICE, BIG muleies on this ranch...and ususally VERY 'spensive.
...My friend was sitting in a blind when a GW and a ranch hand walked up, and asked him why he was there, "because (insert BIL's name here) invited me and I couldn't pass it up for the price", then the GW arrested him for tresspass [B)]..seems the BIL had been taking people all season to this ranch to hunt for HALF PRICE, unbeknownst to the OWNER of the ranch...[:D]

At least he called, I've waited for a guy once who never showed and was supposed to drive. It was a weekend fishing trip and we were using his boat. I tried calling his house at 0445 and woke his wife and kids up, they weren't happy but "oh well". She said he was on his way, but he never showed. A month later I ran into him and asked him what gives, he told me had a prior committment and never elaborated. Needless to say we parted ways 0 -

If they are late they dont ride with me, I had a buddy that would forget everthing he needed, wait till the morning of the hunt to get his sheet ready.

Well, it's 10:55 AM here and he just called. The story thickened as he confessed to damaging the threads when "he" attempted to make the fix himself last night. * That's why he didn't want me to do the repair, for fear that I would tease him relentlessly. I would have and I still will. [}:)]
His gunsmith drilled out the damaged threads and tapped it to the next size. Unfortunately, he didn't have the appropriate screw to reattach the rail! [:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D]
Now he wants to borrow the rifle I offered him at 4:45 AM this morning! [:p]

That would only happen once. There are many things that you can screw up on me, but hunting time ain't one. Got a list of former hunting partners as long as my arm. 0 -
