LOS ANGELES (AP) - Three days after Paris Hilton checked into jail, sheriff's deputies called a news conference Thursday morning as a Web site reported that Hilton had somehow been released early.
Hilton checked into the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood on Sunday night to begin serving a 23-day sentence for violating probation in an alcohol-related reckless driving case. But she left the jail early Thursday morning, according to TMZ.com, which did not name its sources.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department hastily scheduled a 7 a.m. news conference outside the jail to answer questions about the famous inmate.
The 26-year-old hotel heiress surrendered to authorities Sunday with little fanfare after a surprise appearance earlier that day at the MTV Movie Awards, where she worked the red carpet in a strapless designer gown.
She was held in a special unit where she was spending 23 hours a day in a solitary cell, said her lawyer, Richard Hutton.
After his client's first night in jail, Hutton said that she was doing well under the circumstances.
The star of "The Simple Life" reality TV show pleaded no contest to a reckless-driving charge in January and was sentenced to 36 months' probation. When she was later pulled over by the California Highway Patrol, Hilton was told that she was driving on a suspended license and signed a document acknowledging she was not to drive. She was then pulled over by sheriff's deputies on Feb. 27 and charged with violating probation.

"She's using this time to reflect on her life, to see what she can do to make the world better and hopefully, in my opinion, to change the attitudes that exist about her among many people," Hutton said after visiting Hilton.

There's another thread on this topic. May be legit on overcrowding. Recall that she got a private cell for security so she took up space for two prisoners and drunk drivers get kicked loose first when overcrowded.
We laugh at her, but to her spending even three days in a cell must have been Hell. I hope she does learn something from the experience but I'm not holding my breath.0 -

you guys have absolutley no idea what you are talking about. maybe you should check some FACTS before you go spouting off. los angeles county jails release people all the time early. in fact, the FACT is the average inmate serves aprox 25% of their sentence in LA county jails. our jails are so over crowded with illegal aliens and other criminals there just isnt the space and they dont want to pay the cost.
she was sentenced for driving on a suspended license for crying out loud. you junior high drama queens act like she comitted murder.

No, she is very sexy, much like my camel, also named Paris Hilton. However, I am very concerned for her, as she is bald on her special place. So, while she is sexy, she should probably be wearing a burkah.0
