Funk film oil on boiled well water tea ? ? ?
Does anybody get an oily film on top of tea after you make it from their well water ?
I get it if I boil it on the stove or in the quick "Ice-Tea" maker.
Any ideas what the heck is wrong ?
It doesn't go away either, you can tilt a glass and it will break-up but still there.
I'm using Lipton tea bags.
I do live on a farm so there are leaky tractors and pesticides around.

Does the tea turn dark, (like coffee) after it sits?
Sounds like Iron in the water. My well water is bad.
Have your water checked. Call Culligan, they used to make house calls and test water.0 -
Yep the tea turns dark and the film is "rainbowy".
Is that a word "rainbowy" ?0 -
Dunno, but it sounds descriptive.
Another thought, any Spa, Pool places near where you are?
Sears is another place that can do basic tests.
They can probably do basic testing; Iron, Hardness, PH. State DEQ Labs can do a comprehensive test. $$$$$
Quick home test, Fill a Quart fruit jar with the water and add teaspoon full of laundry bleach and let set 12 hrs. Iron will settle out to bottom of jar.0
