Well I did it!
I just cut my new lawn for the first time. I got a few spots that I am going to need to put more seed on, but for the most part it looks pretty good![:D]

...after all these years, I still don't have the "whole yard thing" figured out.
...You work your butt off, and spend money to get the ground ready. You then lay down sod, or plant seeds, labor and money again. You then spend time and money watering, fertilizing said grass sod/seeds, to get it to GROW. THEN you spend money and time, to CUT IT DOWN!! ??? I know, I have done this for years...[8D]

I keep the grass around, because it fells cooler in the summer time. outside if there is a little green to help absorb some of the heat.
my parents never had a lawn and it felt like a bast furnace outside of their place. the heat just bounces of the dirt, felt like walking into a giant microwave.0 -
Where I am it don't seem to take much "effort" or money to get grass
tp grow. I have a different problem.
A few years back I used a tractor to get the grass off of a parking
area,large enough for 5-6 cars to park. Bladed it level, covered
with about 5in. of 1in.- of white limestone. Two years later you'd
never know it was a parking lot, and it looks just like the rest of
the yard. Re-did it, two years later same thing..I Give Up.lol0 -

Hate to bust your bubble, but as fellow redneck trailer thrash I must let you know that a nice lawn will really clash with your trailer...
Of course you can always doctor it up with some Pink flamingos and maybe a old rusty International pick-up truck...0 -

Give it a heavy dose of Round-Up herbicide.
Hyvar sterilizes the soil, nothing grows. But you really have to be careful with runoff and tree driplines.

That being the problem. It's only about 10ft away from, and

As a good son to my father, I alone mowed and manicured, weeded & seeded @ groomed 3 acres of terra verte .I have since left the burbs way behind, moved to the mountains, here we've got sagebrush, rattlesnakes & rocks.Our land is nearly 50% decomposed granite.Its way too harsh for anything that doesnt grow naturally. This brown dirt cowboy has better things to do on weekends. Just dont call me Moe. 0 -

That being the problem. It's only about 10ft away from, and

A little herbicide never hurt anybody.[;)][:D] Seriously I'd be more worried about killing every tree in your yard if a rain washed this stuff over to them. Like sarge said, Round-up would do perfectly, you'd just have to keep after it a little more often than with the Hyvar. plus you'll need a pesticide license to buy that stuff anyways.
