Cop Killer Dies Tonight
After 26 years, convicted cop killer, Philip Workman, is scheduled to die by lethal injection at 1:00am, Wednesday morning in Tennessee.

Maybe just this time they should skip the "put him to sleep step". I really would like to know if it is painful, in case my dog takes another turn for the worse.... I sure don't want to treat my dog like he was a cop killer or something......0 -
Twenty six years huh? With that much of a delay between crime and execution, I doubt the death penalty is going to be regarded as an immediate threat to most potential killers. 0 -

Should have finished him off years ago. My grandfather was Chicago PD and killed in the line of duty as well as another officer by a crazed Marine Sharpshooter with a .30 cal rifle. He even wounded six other officers. He surrendered to police but was not mentally "fit" to stand trial. This cop killer did over 30 years later in a mental facility. Typical American justice- if there is such a thing. 0 -
The only problem I have, (and believe me this person should have been put to death long ago as far as I'm concerned) is that some scumbag just about has to kill a cop to get the death sentence. I'm of the belief that to murder anyone is worthy of the death penalty, and should be punished with such. Not just those who kill cops. 0 -

My beautiful 19 year old daughter, Brittany, was brutally murdered and raped (it is my understanding the rape occurred after she was killed) on May 4, 2007 in the home of her boyfriend.
Please pray she is avenged and her killer put to death like the mad dog he is before 26 years has elapsed!

...the slime should have been given a dirt nap years ago. At least later is far better than "never". I think they should declare a "dead day" where they execute these scumbags on death row, all in one day...clear death row out.

The murderer has yet to be apprehended.
The authorities have a strong feeling about who did it, but must wait for DNA evidence to make an arrest. And there is the possibility there was more than one monstrous beast. My daughter was tiny, so tiny, she weighed 100 lbs and was about 5'4". But she fought, God, how she fought. I would have expected nothing less from my baby girl. She was so brilliantly alive...
Please continue to pray for our family and for the investigators to have patience, wisdom and discernment.0 -

I believe in making those who commit crimes suffer as much as I can.
If my girl were ever attacked, raped and murdered, God have mercy, Because I wont.

Since I was visiting next door when the murder occurred, I have had great interest in seeing this horrible crime resolved. I did ask one of the detectives, that day, about DNA evidence. He stated "that unlike TV shows, it does take sometime for DNA evidence to be processed". I have wished so many times that I would have seen or heard something that would have caused me to investigate and/or intervene. I'm so very sorry for your loss.0 -
The most optimistic estimate for the DNA evidence is 30 days. It was sent to the Dallas Co. lab and they of course work their cases before they touch these rural counties' investigations.
I had asked the investigator if any of the neighbors had heard her scream and he told me no one had. Thank you for verifying what I was told.
I still have to live in the same community with that family; it may be proven none of them killed my Brittany, but I hold them ultimately responsible for not keeping her safe. They desecrated my daughters funeral by showing up; defiant and belligerent moments before the service was slated to start. They were run out real quick by her Dad and 4 big brothers, let me assure you.
Then they had the nerve to try and sit by me at the High School awards ceremony I was attending to see my younger 2 boys acknowledged for their scholastic achievement.
Now I have graduation tomorrow, my sons have dear friends graduating, one of them was a pallbearer for my baby girl.
Their daughter is graduating, too. I dread it. This family is deplorable, they let their high school daughter date the main suspect in my daughters killing, he is 25 to 28 and was recently paroled from prison for raping and guess what, beating the girl in the head with a tire iron. I hated my daughters boyfriend, and I am not convinced he did not have prior knowledge of the vile act or even had it done.
Perhaps I have said too much, but I feel safe and comfortable talking with all of you.
