Stauer watch
In American Rifleman magazine, I keep seeing one page ads for Stauer watches. Anyone know the good, bad or ugly about them?

They're touted as being automatic movements. Beats me how they can produce a quality automatic watch for the price they are selling them. I've seen prices all over the board on them. They are good looking watches, tho. 0 -
Thanks John. If it seems too good to be real, it probably is a burn? 0 -
They are cheaply made Chinese watches given a fancy European name hoping to hoodwink the consumer into thinking their buying something their not. 0 -
What is a good quality watch that holds its value, or even appreciates? Do you have to go as far as buying a Rolex before you have something comparable to a firearm, as far as value goes? 0 -
Omega, or the high end Siekos - but the Siekos aren't all that big a deal.
Omegas can be had a bunch cheaper than the Rolex.

I'll second the Omega. I've had one on my arm for six years with no problems. 0 -
Tag Heuer or an Omega and don't look back. 0 -
I have a Rolex Submariner I've had for about 12 years and it is a good watch. But you know what? It ain't near the watch this little seven dollar quartz watch I wear while at work. I check it once a month on the short wave time check out of Colorado. It loses exactly one second per month. + on the Omega, they really hold their value, and some of the Tissots use the Omega movement. Hard to beat for the price. 0 -
More expensive (less so than a Rolex)
Breitling
Tag Heuer
BVLGARI
Omega
Less expensive (under $1000)
Bulova
Citizen Eco-Drive
TechnoMarine

I don't think any watch holds or increases in value! Fine watches are like jewelry. You pay 500-1000% markup when you buy it. It's hard to recover from that kind of pounding! 0 -
I have a Jaques Le Mans chronograph that still looks bout the same good as when i bought it maybe 12 years ago. 0
