They cost around $1100 I know, and I can find them fairly easily in the nearby stores. The ammo is a bit more expensive than other calibers and is slightly harder to find. I have 1 of these guns on my list of guns to buy. What are your thoughts on the gun and the ammo? Perhaps compare the ammo to the .45 Auto, or even the .357 magnum, which I have shot before, but I have not shot the 50AE. I know the prices for the ammo, the gun, and the magazines, just wanted your thoughts on the gun and the ammo if you have used it before. Also, does it tend to jam a lot? I like reliable guns like my Beretta 92FS that never jams, never has any problems, takes any type of ammo or magazine with no problem. My purpose in buying the gun? Really just to have. Not using it for hunting and certainly not for self defense, but maybe when SHTF as they say. 0 -

make sure you wear a hat that covers your forehead. the 50ae will make the gun recoil straight up and the spent round will clock you and cut your forehead!
i got sick of it and sold my 50ae.
but man it was accurate at 50yds! cloverleaf shots all the time.0 -

...Have the Desert Eagle .44 mag, I jonesed for years for one, and finally bought one, my bad....unless you have arms of steel, and HUGE hands, it's worthless....among many other reasons.
Recoil with the .44 or .50AE is completely managable, because it weighs about 5 lbs. The "unique fun" and "cool" wears off quick.
...Throw it in a holster and the weight and bulky size will make you walk funny.
If by some chance you get your fingers in the reciever when your dropping it into battery,for any reason and it can happen, kiss those fingers good by; I swear I think it would/could cut them off vs just breaking them.
...Mine really only likes FMJ's, dont get me wrong, it handle hollow points and other types of ammo, but it's not reliable but only with the FMJ's.
...I wouldn't give your 2 cents for a truck load.
....Man it's your gun if you want it...but Im telling you...for the money there are some really nice guns out there taht shoot atomic rounds that I gaurantee you will like and enjoy...two things that dont go in the same sentance with the two big cal Eagles...[;)]

My 50AE handles great and doesn't send spent shells my way. I don't have big hands and am not a large build. I had my barrels magnaported and put the hogue grips on it and it is very accurate and serves it's purpose beautifuly as a hunting handgun. 0 -

Clay sorry, just stated the facts about how they are. You know I love ALL guns (cept the highpoint, Raven ilk) and for sure handguns...but I saw after, and before I posted what others said, theirs a "cool" factor to 'em. and it wears off quick. Notice the concensus here?
...JustC had the best reason for liking his, hunting...probably added the long barrel I suspect.
...Ones that say they are great, are just into the "cool" factor, regardless of all the hassel they are...probably be the ones that buy the "newest, hottest" whatever.

My best friend bought one, we put a few shots through it probably a decade ago, and haven't shot it since. Says something, doesn't it.

I don't know about the Desert Eagles (except to me , personally, they're ugly) but I do have a fun gun to suggest and 1/2 the price of an Eagle too!
Try out an AMT Automag III ( 30 carbine). Lottsa flash, big bang, hardly any recoil, reliable, cheap ammo (30 carbine's cheap and available), good looking with that long slide, and interesting.
I shoot it just to put the fear of God into the next lane! HA!

The 50AE holds 7 rounds. It is not a bear to shoot due to the ported barrell. If you don't limp wrist it, it will not go up far enough to hail you with the empty casing.
The AutoMag 50AE shoots even better, less recoil since Harry Sanford made a better design.0 -

Had one in 44mag. Got tired of the brass in the forehead. Once the novely wears off you will want to sell it. For big calibers, stick with a revolver. 0 -
Have the 50AE, not an everyday shooter but fun. The first day I got it I fired 30-40 rds through it, woke up the next morning with hand cramps. Recoil is definitely manageable though. I shoot it about every 3rd or 4th time to the range. Ammo is too expensive and I don't reload the 50AE yet. 0 -

I had mine magnaported,..both the 6" and 10" barrels. As far as carrying it,..you have to be retarded to think it is a carry gun. It is a BIG magnum that doesn't require cocking after the first round. If you have a big nasty after you,..the 50AE desert eagle is the one I want. Bawoom bawoom bawoom bawoom ect. It will outplay most anything else on the market. The wildey magnum is the only thing that comes close.
If you can't hold the 50AE desert eagle,..it's time to reevaluate your recoil sensitivty as it isn't realy that bad and from natchezz, the bullets are not that expensive. maybe $16 for 20rnds, and much much less if you load them.0 -
(IT IS A BIG BOY TOY). i have a 50 / 44 have not had any rounds hit me in the head as of this post. i reload for both 50 and the 44 the gun likes a hot round and not all mags work good. the older MK7 44/41 mags need some twiquing to get them to work right. get the MK19 and change the barrel and mag and your good to go, i do tend to blast with the 44 a little more then the 50. but i have been using the 44 for a number of years now.
FOR A SMALLER ROUND TRY THE BABY EAGLE 40 OR 45 I HAVE BOTH AND THER AS SOLID AS MY SPRINGFIELD OR SMITH 10MM0 -

Mine did eject the brass back at you until Magnum Research corrected the problem for me. Here it is...2 guns for the price of one:
