Please read about this MIRACLE!!!!
First off, most of you are friends and/or good aquaintainces on here. You were aware of the fact that I was on my third deployment in my Army career. Currently I tried to keep you posted on our status, due in part to the fact that our job was to train Iraqi Army.
Well I have been off here for awhile (shortly after SG Niner picked me to win a giveaway, and he and his wife sent me a care package thank you, again).
My life has been saved, at a minimum, of four times. Thank you for all of the prayers.
Due to several factors, my mid-tour leave dates were changed. Extremely rare for this to happen. I arrived home in Alaska on March 11th, my room was subsequently destroyed on March 13th. Direct hit with a med/heavy mortar (I will not divulge specifics due to OPSEC). Don't ask me how it happened, but I WOULD have been in there and I SHOULD have been dead.
While on leave, my wife gave birth to our third child (Madeline). She was born prematurely the day before I was supposed head back. I stayed back two additional days, subsequently missing my return flight to our Combat Out Post. I was there for the flight but I arrived too late and was bumped....that bird was shot down on its way to my COP.
I arrived back to the REO, recovered my gear, and stepped right back into my job, advising ISF. Several weeks after being back we were fully integrated back into the swing of things. On Sunday, APR 22nd, my vehicle was struck by a certain type of IED. While there are all sorts photo's and details about such things on-line, I will not post too many photos and details. The "Nutz" survived the blast. They are being donated to my wheelchair until my prosthetic is "up and running".

I'm so sorry to hear this, IoW, but really glad you are still with us. They do so much with prosthetics now . . . I hope yours is one of the great success stories.
