You'll also notice from the table that, contrary to Leftist propaganda, there is no "surge" of suicides among service people in recent years either (usually implied as some guilt over the "wrongness" of Iraq)

The point is that people are going to die whether it's during a war or not, the number of brave servicemembers who died in a war should remain an important number, since they died in place of YOU.
Lefties think that by enumerating the number of casualties and wounded as often as they do, that they can somehow change a Nation's perspective as regards war against terror. What they fail to take into account is that the terrorists revel in the deaths of their minions, and raise them to martyr status as a reminder to other terrorists that they can become someone (but only after they die).
As long as the puddin' heads think they can change things by surrendering to the terrorists; we have a fight on our hands.
I have often wondered about that. Could it be that the death rate of military, whether in peace time or in war time, is still less than the death rate of the population as a whole? How many of those guys would have died anyway in car wrecks, random violence, accidents, etc. had they never volunteered?0
