oh no, my first problem....
after over 700 rounds thru my new s&w m&p40c i was at the range today and it was like this: bang,bang,bang,click...wth.the chamber indicator was negative, i looked the bottom and the clip was about 1/8th" from the grip.ok, remove, slide it back in, work the slide. bang,bang,bang,bang,click...argggg. same problem. remove magazine, slide it back in,listen for it to latch, work the slide. bang, bang, click. ok, it must be a bad mag. same problem all 4 mags. they are all s&w oem. i then also notice that the magazine release button is very easy to push, hardly any pressure is needed. i figure the recoil must be letting the magazines to work free.(i hope), a quick call to s&w customer service, and they will send a postage paid receipt to mail it back to them. they said it would take 7-10 days. we will see. i knew i should have bought the glock.

Is your hand contacting the mag release when you shoot? 0 -
I had the same thing happening to my Glock 19 the other day at the range. Took a look at it and changed mags and it ended up the mag was worn. 0 -
Are you loading more than three bullets at a time?
I see a pattern:
BANG
BANG
BANG
CLICK!0 -

...After making sure it's not your mag remove your mag catch and check it. A LOT of internals on "new" guns are MIM, not milled...if the catch is worn, replace it with a better after market catch...[;)]

It's the mag catch. Too bad you have to wait for the pre-paid label, then ship the gun in, then wait for it to be sent back. They ought to just send you the part.
Also, there are (or were) a number of "authorized factory repair centers" across the country. There may be one close to you. I have had good response out of the one in Texas. I call him up and give him the model and serial number. He verifies that this is a gun under the lifetime service policy, and sends the needed parts.0 -
nunn- living here in va. i checked and the closest repair facility is the factory in mass. the warranty center in tx. would be the next closest. if is what i have to do to make sure the gun stays under warranty, so be it. i just hope this is not a precursor of things to come with this gun. 0 -

OK, I edited the post, but all the bangs are original. You guys would never make code-breakers!0
