Dependence day
As we near the Fourth of July holiday, I can't help but think it should be changed from Independence Day to "Dependence Day." We have become the most dependent country in the world.
We depend on foreign imports for everything from food to clothing, cars, appliances, oil, communication services, and the list goes on.
My father tells me if a time a long ago, when federal government put the well being of the American people first and foremost. Illegal immigration was just that and not tolerated. Today, it is rewarded and accepted by all branches of federal, state and local governments. I remember when the products purchased were made in America. Not true today.
I ask myself, do my representatives in Congress really represent me and the American people or who do they represent? (Good question). Is this really progress?
Is the United States truly independent as defined in our Constitution. I don't think so. Isn't this a shame.

I believe Dependence Day is celebrated each year since 2005 on Aug.29th. 0 -
It is the only way we can support so many people in such comfort, we specialize and we are dependent on one another to provide what we don't produce ourselves. 0
