Remember when Ronald Reagan was president, We also had Bob Hope and Johnny Cash still with us.

Now we have Obama and no hope and no cash.
I borrowed this from another poster on another board so gooooooood[:D][:D][:D][:0]

Your parents could just look at you and you would change your attitude and you would spent the rest of the time wondering if you were going to get it when you got home.

Do you guys/gals remember when a few months ago nobody would play the Dixie Chicks on the radio because they said something bad about the President? What happened? Seems that everyone is bashing him.

The president very seldom was on TV unless it was something of great importance. Everyone tuned in to see what it was. Now nobody gives a damn [:)]

    THOUGHT YOU MIGHT ENJOY THIS:
'Someone asked the other day, 'What was your favorite fast food when you were growing up?'
'We didn't have fast food when I was growing up,' I informed him.
    'All the food was slow.'

'C'mon, seriously. Where did you eat?'
'It was a place called 'at home,'' I explained. !
'Mom cooked every day and when Dad got home from work, we sat down together at the dining room table, and if I didn't like what she put on my plate I was allowed to sit there until I did like it.'

By this time, the kid was laughing so hard I was afraid he was going to suffer serious internal damage, so I didn't tell him the part about how I had to have permission to leave the table.
But here are some other things I would have told him about my childhood if I figured his system could have handled it :
Some parents NEVER owned their own house, never wore Levis, never set foot on a golf course, never traveled out of the country or had a credit card.
In their later years they had something called a revolving charge card. The card was good only at Sears Roebuck. Or maybe it was Sears & Roebuck.
Either way, there is no Roebuck anymore. Maybe he died.

My parents never drove me to soccer practice.. This was mostly because we never had heard of soccer. I had a bicycle that weighed probably 50 pounds, and only had one speed, (slow)
We didn't have a television in our house until I was 19.
It was, of course, black and white, and the station went off the air at midnight, after playing the national anthem and a poem about God; it came back on the air at about 6 a..m.. And there was usually a locally produced news and farm show on, featuring local people.

I was 21 before I tasted my first pizza, it was called 'pizza pie.'
When I bit into it, I burned the roof of my mouth and the cheese slid off, swung down, plastered itself against my chin and burned that, too. It's still the best pizza I ever had..

I never had a telephone in my room.
The only phone in the house was in the living room and it was on a party line.. Before you could dial, you had to listen and make sure some people you didn't know weren't already using the line.
Pizzas were not delivered to our home But milk was.
All newspapers were delivered by boys and all boys delivered newspapers --my brother delivered a newspaper, six days a week. It cost 7 cents a paper, of which he got to keep 2 cents. He had to get up at 6AM every morning.
On Saturday, he had to collect the 42 cents from his customers. His favorite customers were the ones who gave him 50 cents and told him to keep the change. His least favorite customers were the ones who seemed to never be home on collection day..
Movie stars kissed with their mouths shut. At least, they did in the movies. There were no movie ratings because all movies were responsibly produced for everyone to enjoy viewing, without profanity or violence or most anything offensive.

If you grew up in a generation before there was fast food, you may want to share some of these memories with your children or grandchildren Just don't blame me if they bust a gut laughing.

Growing up isn't what it used to be, is it?
    MEMORIES from a friend :
My Dad is cleaning out my grandmother's house (she died in December) and he brought me an old Royal Crown Cola bottle. In the bottle top was a stopper with a bunch of holes in it.. I knew immediately what it was, but my daughter had no idea.. She thought they had tried to make it a salt shaker or something. I knew it as the bottle that sat on the end of the ironing board to 'sprinkle' clothes with because we didn't have steam irons... Man, I am old.
    How many do you remember?
Head lights dimmer switches on the floor.
    Ignition switches on the dashboard.
Heaters mounted on the inside of the fire wall.
    Real ice boxes.
Pant leg clips for bicycles without chain guards.
Soldering irons you heat on a gas burner.
Using hand signals for cars without turn signals.

    Older Than Dirt Quiz :
Count all the ones that you remember not the ones you were told about.

So many members on GB bashed the .380? A 9mm was the absolute minimum for carry and a .40S&W or 45 were so much better. So why did so many now like the 380. I'm not saying the 380 is in the power range of the 9mm 40 S&W or the 45.

10 months ago when I lost my job at the hospital for a hipaa violation. and I knew that there was someone behind it.

Well I got the word last night that this person told another person who was pretending like he didnt care for me everything.

this guy worked for the ambulance service and we became friends and it drove this person who lied crazy,so after I was fired I told him and he said he would try to find out,so he went in and asked where I was and this person said well ya'll are friends dont u know,he said no I cant stand dawn I was just being nice to her because I have to see her all the time.so she told him how she got me fired.

From the moment I was told I was on suspension till just the other night I had this gut feeling it was her,,and now I know.

The reason he didnt tell me sooner was because he didnt want me to get in trouble and get arrested for beating the s*** out of her and now she is no longer working at the hospital because of her big mouth she was talking about a patient and making fun of them and an employee who knew why I got fired heard her and told HR...
You talk crap about a person that isnt true and eventually it will come back and bite you in the behind.....[:D][:D][:D]

just thought i would update ya'll

People like that ALWAYS get it.

Unfortunately, their victims don't always get to find out.

    Glad that you did.

Yes, but Dawnie ended up with a much better job that she likes better, with better pay and benefits. She wouldn't change back if that spineless idiot hospital CEO came crawling on his hands and knees.

I was actally wrongfully fired, she got fired for a hippa violation.
She made up a hipaa to get me fired, and then she actually said something to get fired that is where the KARMA LIES...

And like Nunn said because of her I do have a much better job and I wouldnot go back there if the ceo came crawling to me.
I wonder if there is something I could do to get her to tell the truth,to the hospital,,,mention to her that I have proof in writing that this person knows what happend and is willing to testify for the slander she put me through, not that i want my job back just for them to addmit that they screwed up...
During my unemployment hearing with the hospital they had to tell my unemployment lady the date this happend and it was a saturday that I was not even working,so I want them to know that this person had me set up...

I'm not sure what HIPAA is, but if it is what I think it is, it's the federal law which can cause people to die unnecessarily.

If it's the law I think it is, it's the law which doesn't allow Duke Hospital to tell Halifax Hospital what is causing you to die, so you lie there and die while Halifax Hospital tries to figure it out.

Another fine example of the feds running the show.

Wrong. It's the federal law that doesn't allow Duke Hospital to disclose protected health information to anybody NOT related to the care of the patient. If they didn't tell Halifax Hospital what they needed to know to treat the patient they were just plain wrong. If they used HIPAA as an excuse, that's just plain wrong, too. Anybody who knows anything about it would know better.
