where to find these nunchaku??
these used to be dime a dozen (well, $25) in the mid 80's, but they're long gone. no ball bearings, large bolt.
the swivel is screwed to the chuck with a large bolt; one ancient old fart I talked to said they quit making those in favor of cheaper, smaller bolts, but those kept breaking so they quit making ball-bearing-less altogether.
the ball bearing ones suck. I want a new pair of these. anybody know where to get some?

I have a similar pair, but mine have a strings...actually 550 cord. I prefer string...makes little noise. It's not as effective in stopping a sword attack, but... 0 -

These appear to be the style you have, but they are aluminum.

the ("The") old guy at Three Rivers Martial Arts on manchester is the one who told me about why they don't make them anymore. he's pretty knowledgeable.
I don't know how to fight with them, or even any footwork, but I'm very good at manipulating them. I've been doing it off and on for about 25 years. perhaps we can trade some moves.
yeah, strings are quiet, but they can be stretchy, they fray, they need adjustment every once in a while and they can be cut.
when I first learned anything about nunchaku, the neighborhood nunchaku guru told me that ball bearings are no good because when they fail -when you're using them the hardest- you're screwed. he refused to use ball bearings. he did take 'chucks with him on his "security" job, so he believed in what he was saying.0 -

I have been using them since I was 15 years old,.........that makes it 30 years for me.
I DO put foam on mine now when practicing, as I tend to bruise my azz more than I did years ago.
Let us know what you find, as I am not into the aluminum myself, but may order a pair if that is all they have.
I also have an e-mail, into a "martial arts" guy I know, to see if he has any sources for them too.

marc1301- kept calling them, no answer. I sent an email (including a link to that page with those aluminum ones on it) got this reply today.
Sorry, we don't have any nunchakus with the swivel that you're asking about, and we haven't come across any manufacturers who still make them either. Good Luck in your search.
