A scare at the range
I got quite the scare at the local shooting range the other day. My dad and I took a couple of guns out to the range to rap off a few rounds and sight in one of his .22's. We were shooting at the 100 yd. range and a couple of other guys were over at the 25/50 yd. range. We were walking down to check our targets when the guys at the other range shot a few rounds and immediately following I felt a sharp pain in the upper part of my right arm. I was hit by a flying chunk of metal or a rock that must have ricocheted over into our range! Luckily it just barely grazed the edge of my arm and nothing was stuck in it. Very freak accident considering that the ranges are divided by a 15-20 foot high mound of dirt and we were only about 15 yards out from the bench on our side. We went over and talked to the other guys just to make sure that they weren't being irresponsible or anything like that and they were not(very nice fellas actually). Nothing could have been done differently, just a very freak thing. I am going to go talk to the the guys who maintain the range and see if we could maybe get a petition going to get the middle mound built a little higher. I would hate to see this happen to someone else, or more importantly a younger shooter or kid. Stay safe fellas.
