shipping a pistol
what are some of the ways a non ffl can ship a pistol to a ffl. i sold the 1911 and my ffl wants 50.00 to ship the pistol. is that reasonable or kinda high priced.

a non FFL can only ship a hand gun by UPS or Fedex over night air and it must be shipped from the main hud in your area , shipping will run atleast $35 to maybe $50 depending on weight and how much insurance you put on it
you dealer is a little high because he can ship using tthe post office , if he uses prioprity mail with insurance and del. comp it should cost under $15 and what would be with around $500 worth of insurance0 -
If that includes the actual shippign costs, do it. Otherwise you have to overnight Fed Ex it (ffl can use USPS for much less), which will be about the same price. So since you'll be paying about $50 either way, support your local shop instead of FEDEX. 0 -
That last pistol I shipped UPS cost me $60+ so I would suggest that you pay the gun dealer or do a search in the GB auction site for a FFL in your area that will do it cheaper. Many will do that service for $25. 0 -
hk91,i just picked up a new revolver yesterday from my ffl it was shipped from colorado to ohio usps priority mail 3-4 days the jerk charged me 25.00 it cost him 14.10 he lied to me on the phone and said shipping would be more than 25.00 but he would just eat the rest, long story short-your ffl is going to make 35.00+ dollars off you for having to ship it usps do you have any other ffls in your area check around first but let the buyer know, that way he's not getting antsy about receiving his purchase.your ffl can have fed ex or ups pick it up at his store even if you box it yourself,that just sounds high priced. I shipped a tiny little BP pocket pistol back to the maker for repairs and UPS charged me over $60.00. If they go by weight, you need deep pockets for a standard size revolver.0 -

Was the seller an FFL? If not, he paid more than $14.10 if he had to pay a fee to his FFL.0 -
He is charging you shipping, and insurance, plus a fee for his time to do the transfer.
I agree,........you are going to pay 50 bucks or more if you ship it yourself, to a receiveing FFL,......which is legal.
Mine would charge me $45.00, but it is close. Once he ships a gun, he must record a transfer, even though you could ship it direct yourself, but you can't use the USPS for a pistol, as a non-FFL.0 -
LOKO383, No an individual cannot box a firearm themself and then take it to his dealer for shipping. The dealer must inspect the firearm and log it into his books when it its received from the individual. I don't know of any dealer who is going to take someone's word for what gun and its serial number is in the box. Plus I want to know that the gun is unloaded before shipping it out and that there is no ammo included in the package. 0 -

I have just found out FedEx or UPS will not let you ship a hand gun in Tennessee unless you are a FFL. I tried shipping from the main depot with no luck. 0 -
67fasty, you've been lied to my friend. You sure as he** CAN ship by UPS or Fed Ex in Tennessee. Ask them to show you the rule in their books. They won't be able to do it. 0 -

Now days I figure at least $50 to ship a handgun, which ever way I choose to ship it. If I go through my FFL, I might get away with about $45, but that's about it. Sad part of doing business long distance.0 -
just wrap it in aluminum foil and ship it normally like any other package 0
