    I don't see a problem. You didn't say if you had a 24 transformer?
40va is enough. Less that $10.

Thermostat is just a switch. One leg into thermostat, the other to the cooling side of the thermostat, to 24 v relay. Since you have high voltage you need a housing that all this will fit into. Except the thermo needs to go in kennel. But that is just bell wire (24 volt).

You also need a relay or contactor that handles 24 VDC on one side and 120 VAC on the other. A contactor may be a better option as you can get them rather cheap at an industrial supply store. You also need to make sure your transformer goes from 120 V AC to 24 V DC.

So you need one incoming wire, it splits goes to the contactor and transformer. Transformer then goes to the thermostat, then fan "on" needs to go back to the contactor. That should close or open the contactor which ever kind it is, then from contactor to fan.

Also make sure the wires used and contactor are rated for the amperage the fan will have.

you can actually buy the whole set up that works for temp, and humidity look on fleabay for greenhouse/climate controller, all 110 volts, no wiring no fuss

Personally I would not mix ac and dc componets as some above have suggested.

phillip, it sounds like you have everthing you need to make it work.
run the hot leg of the fan through the normally open contacts on the relay. run r from t.former to r/rc at stat then run y from stat back to one leg of the 24v coil on the relay. run c from t.former to other leg of 24v coil on the relay. when the kennel temp. rises above stat set temp. it will energize the coil on the relay and close the contacts and turn on the fan.

What? Almost all your household items run off of a 24 volt DC control side and a higher voltage AC working side. This includes your AC, heater, washer, drier, fridge, deep freeze, ect.

"What? Almost all your household items run off of a 24 volt DC control"...NOPE MOST OF THESE RUN ON 24 VOLT A/C. YOU'D NEED A RECTIFIER TO GET 24 VOLT D/C FROM 110V A/C.

    Geez,......here we go again!
Yes you can easilty do what you are asking about.
    T-stat, 40va transformer, single pole contactor with a 24v coil,...............hook it up, done![:D]
