When you Pass away
You only have a wife and no kids to hand any guns down to. Your wife only wants to keep one for next to the bed. My question is.... do you try to sell every thing off before you get to old to get honest value for them or if you were to die suddenly, hope that your wife knows what there worth and tryes to get some help on here so she gets what their worth. I would like to see something set up for our spouses so that the members of gunbroker would rest asured that they are going to be taken care of when we pass. Maybe a dealer or two that would do that for our next of kin for a fair price. What's everybodys feeling about this as we have quite a few older members.

You have your lawyer set up a trust. One of the trustees being a gun person that you trust. Very simple to do. Safe, and you can add, subtract guns as you wish. 0 -
I think it is a good idea.
I have seen families fighting over the deceased persons firearms on several occasions or widows just wanting them out of the house for next to a fraction of the real value.
The owner of firearms should have a plan in place for their possesions and or firearms if they should pass on the value would be realized for their spouse.0 -
Take a picture of each gun and attach a note to the picture and put a price that the gun should sell for and or the bottom line she should take for it. Contact a dealer and work something out. Or insruct her to put the guns on consignment with a reputable dealer. Just leave her the info. 0 -

Sit her down and Educate her about what They Are Worth! That way some Lowlife won't cheat her out of them after you're gone. 0 -

Everything everybody said is true, but, wouldn't it be nice to have something set up that you could say. If I were to die tonight coming home from _____ , just contact member ______ on gunbroker and they will honestly help you to sell off my guns for a fair price. That would be peace of mind for me. We just need some ffl's to do that for our family's. 0 -

After my Dad died (46 years ago), our Mom said the guns have to go. A man from a gun shop came in and "robbed" us blind by offering one price for EVERYthing.
OK, he was all set to rob us blind until we threw him out. Mom said, "Why did you do that, the guns have to go?" We talked her into letting us keep three for each of us and the man came back and we made him give us a price on each gun (there were MANY) and then he took them out of the house. Mom still did not get much, but she was happy they were gone, and my brother and I were happy that we were able to keep our top three! A compromise of sorts ... but there were hundreds of guns. Our Dad was a shooter, hunter and collector! (Plus there were three of us men-folks in the family,) It was not a happy day!
I say that it would have been a whole lot better to have talked this over in advance. Maybe I need to do the same thing now! Only I only have a handfull of guns and nothing of any great value!0 -

Heck no man,Do it in a letter given to her after you die.Then she wont know how much you spend on your/her guns.[:D]0
