Just a WAG but I would say it might be 9X70R. Both the 9X57 and 9x56MS are rimless cartridges. From the photos shown the rifle cartridge has a very pronounced rim. I wouldn't guess as to the value of the rifle; not yet at least. If I had not purchased 16 firearms withing the last 48 hours I would bid on this one.
If I were to obtain this gun for myself I would leave it in the present condition. Whoever bought it from me at some later date could do whatever they wished. RJSnow0 -
