One of the great delights in life, to go out on the porch at 7 am and sip a cup of coffe with cream, along with the first Marlboro of the day.
That is a cheap thrill to beat the band.
For better or worse, I had to give both up ten years ago.

I drink about 10 cups of coffee a day. I smoke (on average) 1 cigarette a day- and it is in the morning. The combination helps things get moving if you know what I mean. [;)]

I sure as hell would give up the cigs before the coffee. Life without coffee? Not if you want to live.

I believe it has something to do with the caffiene. Mtn. Dew and cigs
for me. But on days I can make myself drink water, the cig craving
    isn't near as bad.

That's how it used to feel when I had a beer and was still smoking. It's a tough task to accomplish.

You have the right kind of attitude. Stay strong!

Thanks! Actually, having a beer is a lot easier for me without craving a smoke, but coffee with one is really tough, always been, it's just something about the taste and the high off of a mix of nicotine and caffeine.

I wonder if an occasional cigar would be considered cheating [:D] A lot of people I know who quit cigarettes picked up an occasional cigar, besides it does takes pretty good with a glass of scotch.

Hate like hell to keep going back in time BUT. Coffee and cigarettes were the lifeline to the American G.I. in WW 2. We were "fueled" by Cigarettes, coffee, any booze we could find along with combat ratiions
supplied. It kept us going for many months. Dont knock it. Wasnt it the last war we won?. It sure worked back then. And still have the bad habbits. (but now cigars).

Joe, I have told my Dad, who fought in the Pacific in WW2, that it must have been a fine feeling, to pop a new magazine into your still-smoking Thompson gun, look out at a couple of freshly dead Japs out in front of your foxhole, and light up a Pall Mall unfiltered.

wow three common threads and you think i am following him around......perhaps you are following me around......see how that type of accusation works.......i am not following him anywhere....simply responding to threads that suit my interest.......how about you....why are you here.......i work at a drug treatment and rehabilitation clinic and my experiences in dealing with addicts closely resembles the character traits expressed here on the forum by this individual........i do not believe that everyone that is anti-law enforcement is on drugs and i did not say that.......only the two individuals that appear to be the same person under different user id.......i work more than i play here......so i only comment when i really have something to add.....imho

Sneaky, do like I did. Start dipping snuff. Haven't smoked in years. Gotta go now, I out of snuff and the store's about to close. [}:)]

The coffee I need the cigs I have never smoked. I do like a cigar once in a while. I don't inhale but you still get hit with a pretty stiff amount of nicotine through the gums and some smoke in the lungs. Cigars maybe one a week or every two weeks.

Coffee daily and a drink or two in the evening.

I could go without the smokes and the booze with no problem. The coffee I "NEED" and I will get grumpy if I don't get it early in the AM!

Never did learn to like coffee. But then I don't like anything hot to drink other than an occasional cup of soup on a real cold winter day. Cigs and coke a cola are my way of starting the day.

I find nothing is better when you wake up really thirsty than a cold soda. Not much of a coffe drinker here either. Soda and menthol.
