and the impact was going to destroy the North Western corner of the United States? Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana will be pelted with billions of golf ball size 1200 degree rocks. Nothing and no one will survive the impact and the fires will continue for weeks. Utility services will be wiped out across the country and dust will fill the air for eleven days. 40% of the population survives by ingenuity, yet no commerce has been re-established and people are now searching for food and water in homes of the deceased. Things are going to get worse before they get any better. Now, the public is advised one week before it will hit.

I'd hope my ex wife hadn't heard the news, tell her she was absolutely right about everything, and to make it up to her, I'm sending her for a two-week vacation to Seattle. If she wants, I'll even pay her mother's way too.

I recall seeing a de-milled ICBM silo for sale a little while back on ebay in Easter Washington (too bad it was close to Idaho[:D]). Now that would make a nice place to sit for a few years while the population boom got controlled. I don't understand all the cannibal or growing food stuff right away. I mean if you didn't pack it in your survival hole you can't farm any way. Also if you ain't got a way to make deisel (or a still to make ethel) you got to go with dog power. Why dog? Horses needs plant matter and that will be scarce and besides dogs are a cheap sentry who can live off Spam[:D].
I'd live off all the Safeway goodies in the cans for a while (that place runs out go to Costco). The thing I'd worry more about is having the right kind a people. Some sort of a medic, mechanic, and enough people to hold what is ours from raiding party. The down side to that is you'll go through food much faster (but safer).
Commerce would be like the last thing on my mind. Living like most homeless people who are better suited for "disasters" and day to day living.
Besides when Yellow Stone pops we'll be in the same comet/meteor scenario. So many fun ways to go out with a bang[:D].0 -
